Adeline was the one in the family that would do anything for
them. When her grandfather became ill, she was right
there to put her accounting business aside and step in to
help.
Her grandfather owned a chocolate shop. People came
from all over just to get some of his fudge. Adeline no
matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get it
right.
Adeline also has to deal with her mother, Janelle.
Janelle wants more than anything to have all three of her
daughters married. Janelle is always after Adeline to
find a man.
Sinclair grew up in this little town. He and his family
lived on the wrong side of the tracks with his
grandparents. Sinclair comes to his home town to help
his brother out. Sinclair is only planning on staying
for a few weeks. Until of course he meets Adeline. At
first they don't hit it off that well. As time goes on,
they do find that there is a spark.
Both of them at first are not willing to go after what
they want. Both have different life's styles. Sinclair
doesn't want to stay in his home town. Too many bitter
memories.
Adeline doesn't want to leave. As much as
Adeline tries to make the fudge the way her grandfather
does, it is only when Sinclair helps her that it comes
out right. SWEET HAVEN is found, both with the fudge and
their love life.
For Shirley McCoy this is the first book in a new series.
If this is how the rest of the series is going to be, I
can't wait. I really like the way that she takes all of
the characters, and gives a little background into each
of them. Since this book is about fudge, I would say it
is a bitter sweet story.
Shirley McCoy tosses in a little mystery, a little romance
and a cute puppy named Tiny. What more could anyone ask
for. In SWEET HAVEN, you have of course the noisy
neighbor who has lived their whole life in this town.
Some of the characters are funny in their own way. I
can also see who the next books are going to be about.
Adeline's two sisters have a short story line in this
book, but I am sure they will each have their own story.
Along with a young boy Chase who is trying to raise his
little sister.
SWEET HAVEN is a wonderful small town read and I'm waiting
for the next one, it is a SWEET SURPRISE. (Pun intended)
In Benevolence, Washington, the Lamont family's irresistible
handmade chocolates are a cherished tradition--and always a
reason to celebrate. And now they're giving the three Lamont
sisters, one by one, delicious chances to start again, make
a change, and have their sweetest dreams come
true...
Neighbors who care, a peaceful
routine--accountant Adeline Lamont is glad some things about
her beloved hometown never change. But when her grandfather
is injured, she has to run the family store, Chocolate
Haven, and make its legendary fudge. Trouble is, she can't
get the recipe right to save her life--or Chocolate Haven.
And she doesn't need her ornery new tenant, Sinclair
Jefferson, stirring up the pot with his help--and daring
Addie to taste her wild side…
Once Sinclair gets his
hapless brother back on track, he's leaving Benevolence for
good this time. He's made his life far away from his
irresponsible family and their scandals. Trouble is, he
can't quite stay away from Addie's optimism, enticing
plus-size curves, and kindness to those who need it most.
But they don't seem to have a thing in common--except that
Addie's passion for chocolate, and for Benevolence, is just
as contagious as Sinclair's passion for her. Maybe
small-town life has its charms after all…
