Delaney loved her job. Until she is told that she must cut funds in one department. As it was explained to her, either cut expenses or lose your job. Since Delaney doesn't want to lose her job, she knows that she must meet with the head of the department and see what if anything can be cut.

Dr Josh Mackenzie is the head of peds. He works day and night to keep his department going. No vacations, no social life, only work. Delaney sets out to meet with him, but Josh doesn't have the time.

When they finally met, the sparks fly. But the big problem they both have to face is getting the numbers to match. Josh suggests that Delaney spend a week or two in his department to see exactly what goes on in it. Delaney is not looking forward to this. Peds is where her brother passed away when he was a small child. Another reason why she doesn't want to cut funding in this area.

Try as they might, they have come up with a plan. They must get people to invest in this department. When it comes time to present her ideas, she is shot down by the hospital administrator.

Maggie Mcginnis's story is great. Two people, two different up bringings. I really like the way that she made their love story so romantic. A little sex, but not too much. Most of the story centers around Delaney and Josh. I also found several other characters that I am sure we will learn more about them in future books.

I also liked the description of the town Echo Lake. I could see myself looking out at the mountains and the lake. Maggie shows how no matter what, love can survive. These two people while coming from different life styles proves it. What a book that you can laugh and cry while reading. This is the one for you. Read it in one day. This is my kind of book, from start to finish, just couldn't put it down.

SUMMARY

ONLY LOVE CAN HEAL A BROKEN HEART

Delaney Blair loves her job at Echo Lake’s Mercy Hospital, where she’s developed a reputation for being smart, fair, and driven. When she’s assigned to cut funding, she has to temporarily relocate her office, put on borrowed scrubs, and go toe-to-toe with Dr. Joshua Mackenzie, the interim head of the pediatrics department. His killer smile and rock-star body are distractions Delaney could do without, but she’s determined to stay focused while she brings his budget into line. It’s not working.

Beloved by his colleagues and patients alike, Josh is too busy caring for sick kids to talk numbers with the sexy, stiletto-clad Delaney. Every time they talk business, tensions run high…but so does a powerful attraction neither of them can ignore. When an emergency brings Mercy to its knees, Delaney and Josh must work together to save lives. But can they also find a way into each other’s hearts?
