What happens when an invader pretends to be someone else?
In the quick and speedy sound bite news of today, people
and countries will react to what they think is happening
and they seldom take the time to really analyze what is
going. Poland has been set up to look as if it has
violated international law and initiated hostile action
against Russia. When their President's protests of
innocence are not accepted by the world, they have little
choice but to look for support and assistance from an
unlikely source. Who can they call upon? Can their usual
allies help or not? Can they find an innovative solution
to their crisis? How can little Poland survive the
hungry and huge Russian bear with its huge armies and
massive coverage in the air?
Internationally acclaimed best selling author Dale Brown
is considered by many to be one of the best military
writers in the United States and IRON WOLF certainly
will add to that well deserved reputation. IRON WOLF is
the 20th book in Brown's long standing and exceptional
Patrick McLanahan series that has spanned over 25 years.
In IRON WOLF, the baton has been clearly passed to
Patrick's son, Bradley, a well regarded young man famous
for his daring flying as well as team building skills.
Brown's many fans have already been introduced to Brad's
exploits in previous books, such as STARFIRE; yet, for
new readers to the series, Brad's background in IRON WOLF
has been sufficiently developed that it can also easily
be read as a stand alone and exciting military thriller.
Now physically confined to a Cybernetic Infantry Device,
Patrick still manages to make his mark known and provides
some interesting side action while Brad takes over as
the main protagonist.
Brown brings a very authentic voice and immediate sense
of time and place to this contemporary political
situation and highlights many potentially believable
(some less so) public and background scenarios. The main
political characters are a fairly newly elected
President Stacy Anne Barbeau striving to change things
from previous administrations and wanting to be re-
elected, a hot-tempered Russian President Gennadiy
Gryzlov and Poland's President Piotr Wilk. These
presidents and their senior officers behave in many ways
like many current and past real leaders, but tend to be
just a little bit more stereotyped in their actions and
personal "out to get you" vendettas. For military and
other enthusiasts, Brown also includes Glossaries of
Weapons and characters.
As a former Air Force captain, Brown has an impressive
background and with his ability to take patterns he sees
in contemporary issues, he easily weaves in very
interesting historical and contemporary issues in as a
natural part of the storyline. IRON WOLF contains a fast
moving multi-layered plot built on issues of tension and
conflict that make it a page turning adventure. All in
all, I am sure military and thriller fans as well as the
legions of Dale brown fans (self included) will have
lots of good reading ahead for them in IRON WOLF! So,
sit back in the pilot seat, let your mind go and zoom
into the future as you check it out for yourself! Enjoy!
New York Times bestselling author Dale Brown goes
beyond the headlines in this high-tech, high-tension
military thriller in which a resurgent Russia enflames
sectarian unrest and violence in Ukraine and Poland, setting
off a stealth robotic war and escalating an international
crisis.
In the spring of 2017, the U.S. economy is
rebounding under President Stacy Anne Barbeau, the country’s
first female president. But her leadership is about to be
severely tested: Russian president Gennadiy Gryzlov has sent
Special Troops, disguised as pro-Russian activists, into
Ukraine and Moldova. Though NATO is outraged, its response
is tepid. Refusing to let Russian aggression go unpunished,
former U.S. president Kevin Martindale approaches Polish
president Peter Wilk with a radical solution: a
counterattack using a covert force of Cybernetic Infantry
Device (CID): manned robots.
Underwritten by the
wealthy Wilk, Operation Iron Wolf is launched—without the
knowledge of the Americans or its NATO partners. The CID’s
initial strikes are successful, infuriating Gryzlov and
propelling President Barbeau to pledge western help to
investigate the attack. With international tensions at the
boiling point, Martindale’s secret alliance, supported by
the best military technology, is determined to outmaneuver
the Russians.
In this battle that will determine the
fate of Eastern Europe, just which side will win?
