We can safely call this an unusual PI story as we meet some
ladies who specialise in getting the goods on straying
husbands. Even if that means getting between the sheets
with them in person on behalf of HOMEWRECKER INCORPORATED.
Claudia is saving to settle down while others are providing
for family members. It's just a job, right? They make
themselves available to men who are in the habit of
straying, in order to get the proof needed for the wives to
divorce by the terms of pre-nup contracts.
Claudia is assigned a wealthy Chicago businessman for a fat
bonus, which I would have to say she is earning, given the
way football stars behave with her. Gregory Michaels is
suspected by his wife Elsa of cheating, though on the
surface they are a caring couple. By the terms of their
pre-
nup he would keep all his stocks in the family components
firm, and she would lose half her own wealth if they split
without concrete evidence of infidelity. A stranger, who
might be paparazzi, has sent Mrs Michaels compromising
photos of her husband, but they are not enough. She still
loves the man and needs to know the truth.
Be prepared for adult activity and strong language from the
start. You'll also find a richly cynical view of men which
may feel overdone. But given that an adultery website
hosted accounts from numerous men and comparatively few
women, we have to feel there is some truth in the
tale. Only for the entrapment aspect, this interesting
adventure feels very much like the autobiography MAYFLOWER
MADAM,
in which a socialite in need of funds ran a call
girl agency which protected the women workers.
Claudia lets us in on her family background; her father
left early and remarried soon after her mother died. This
naturally colours her view of men. She keeps in touch with
her younger sister, who took her dad's part, but they
agreed not to fight over their parents. This does make
Claudia come across as a more human character and not
completely the amoral homewrecker she claims to be. Still,
with every new case, a psychoanalyst would probably say she
is revenging herself on her father. In a wry twist however
the tables are turned on HOMEWRECKER INCORPORATED. Author
S. Simone Chavous suddenly sparks a romance in this
unlikely setting, and even danger. Affairs are never
uncomplicated.
*Don't let the title fool you, this is a story about true
love.
Without love, marriage is just business. At least that’s what
Claudia Mason tells the women who seek her firm’s unique
services. With wealthy husbands who see their wedding rings as
meaningless pieces of jewelry, they trust Claudia to do
whatever is necessary to gather the hard evidence needed to
shatter an ironclad prenup.
She is the best in the business and has yet to meet a mark she
couldn’t get the goods on, solidifying her belief no man can
be trusted. After landing a client who is her ticket to
retirement, she is on top of the world. Until a chance
encounter with Greyston Michaels turns her carefully
controlled world upside down.
Greyston shows Claudia a part of herself she thinks she’s
lost, making her question everything she believes about men—
and love. But in Claudia’s world, following her heart is bad
for business. And business is everything.
