TAKING FIRE is the fourth in the One-Eyed Jack
series by Cindy
Gerard, and it is well worth the read. It's a fast-paced
read
with plenty of action, frustration, and pain. I love Ms.
Gerard's series because not only are the men take-charge
alpha
males but the women in their lives can also take care of
business.
Military contractor Bobby "Boom Boom" Taggart met Talia
Levine
in war-torn Kabul when they were both on assignment. He
felt they made a connection
only to discover he had been
betrayed and used when she disappeared. Six years later,
they meet again when the U.S. Embassy comes under attack.
Talia is desperate to get out of the bombed building, and
she
needs Bobby's help.
Imagine how Bobby feels when he has six years of built up
hatred to even consider helping her. Bobby tells Talia if
she
wants his help he needs full disclosure of why she needs
his
help. Talia will confess to another betrayal that will
bring
more pain and distance between her and Bobby. Because of
the
urgency of the circumstances they will need to work
together.
When their lives start TAKING FIRE, Bobby calls on the only
ones he knows and trust to come to their aid. He is
reunited
with his Black-Ops brothers and their wives who know just
what
to do to get the job done.
TAKING FIRE is a great story about trust, forgiveness and
unconditional love. Bobby has to decide if he can ever
trust
and forgive Talia after learning the extent of her
betrayal.
Talia has to find a way to convince Bobby to give her a
chance
to make things right. There are some touching moments when
a
new relationship is established. The Black-Ops team prove
once again when a brother is in need they are there to
lend a hand and have each other's back no matter what.
Cindy Gerard never disappoints with her books. You will be
caught up in TAKING FIRE from start to finish. If you have
not
read the other One-Eyed Jacks series or any of the
Black-Ops
series I recommend them all. You will enjoy the banter
between the guys, but you will also enjoy the brotherhood
they
share.
Six years ago, tough-as-nails military contractor Bobby
Taggart met the woman of his dreams in war-torn Kabul—a
sexy, whip-smart war correspondent who approached him at a
local bar, took him to bed, made him fall in love…and then
mysteriously disappeared. In her wake, the terrorist leader
he’d been mining for valuable intel was assassinated—then
Bobby discovered his phone had been bugged. And he’s pretty
damn sure he’s been played for a fool.
Now, a covert security mission for the U.S. Embassy in Oman
unexpectedly reunites him with Talia Levine, the woman who
betrayed him and broke his heart. And there’s one more
secret she hasn’t told him—one that will change his world.
But as the heat of anger mixes with a still-simmering
passion, dangerous forces close in, their sights set on
Talia. Trust is the only way they will survive—but with
their lives in the balance, can Bobby risk trusting her again?
