A GIRL'S GUIDE TO MOVING ON is the first title I've read by Debbie Macomber, and
it's
definitely a promising start. The cover is gorgeous and
reminds me so much of a girl's night in with cocktails and
great conversations, which are like a soothing balm to your
soul. Like the title suggests this story is a guide to help you move
on. I think it's perfect for any type of moving on for
everything from relationships to a dull life. The
guide Nichole and Leanne use to move on after their divorces is a great idea and
shows that having a
basic plan does pay off. To-Do lists fanatics will
love A GIRL'S GUIDE TO MOVING ON.
This being the first title by Debbie Macomber
I've read, I must say I love the simple yet effective guide and the main
protagonists are a refreshing pair: a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
The plot of the story is beautiful. If only in real life
mothers- and daughters-in-law could be this way. It is
calming to read how the characters dealt with divorce and
hoped for happiness in the future. The usual bitterness and
cynicism that accompanies divorce and loss of confidence did
not happen as it usually does. Sure there are low
confidences, feelings of betrayal and being insufficient, but
they are dealt with head on and patiently without losing the plot.
Rocco is dreamy and Nikolai, for his age, is definitely
strong and adorable. If only second chances in reality were
so promising and fulfilling, but that's what we have fiction
for. A GIRL'S GUIDE TO MOVING ON definitely hit the right buttons on how a
good, strong, and happy relationship should be. If you have
had a break up recently or just want to get out of a rut, do
pick up this beautiful story.
In this powerful and uplifting novel from #1 New York Times
bestselling author Debbie Macomber, a mother and her
daughter-in-law bravely leave their troubled marriages and
face the challenge of starting over. Leaning on each other,
Nichole and Leanne discover that their inner strength and
capacity for love are greater than they ever imagined.
When Nichole discovers that her husband, Jake, has been
unfaithful, the illusion of her perfect life is indelibly
shattered. While juggling her young son, a new job, and
volunteer work, Nichole meets Rocco, who is the opposite of
Jake in nearly every way. Though blunt-spoken and rough
around the edges, Rocco proves to be a dedicated father and
thoughtful friend. But just as their relationship begins to
blossom, Jake wagers everything on winning Nichole
back—including their son Owen’s happiness. Somehow, Nichole
must find the courage to defy her fears and follow her
heart, with far-reaching consequences for them all.
Leanne has quietly ignored her husband’s cheating for
decades, but is jolted into action by the echo of Nichole’s
all-too-familiar crisis. While volunteering as a teacher of
English as a second language, Leanne meets Nikolai, a
charming, talented baker from Ukraine. Resolved to avoid the
heartache and complications of romantic entanglements,
Leanne nonetheless finds it difficult to resist Nikolai’s
effusive overtures—until an unexpected tragedy tests the
very fabric of her commitments.
An inspiring novel of friendship, reinvention, and hope, A
Girl’s Guide to Moving On affirms the ability of every woman
to forge a new path, believe in love, and fearlessly find
happiness.
