Mystery Cozy

Margo Tamblyn, works as a Magician's Assistant in Sin City. She returns home, to Proper City, Nevada, which is a hop, skip and a jump from Las Vegas, when her beloved father suffers a heart attack. She must take care of his costume shop Disguise DeLimit, which is his pride and joy and perfect for costume/theme parties, which are very popular in this town (The town has storybook street names. Imagine living in a house on the corner of Pooh Bear Drive and Winnie Lane?). Margo is asked by local trust-fund baby, Blitz Manner, 26, to plan a birthday costume party for him—a detective theme with 40 costumes of famous sleuths.

At the party, Blitz is fatally stabbed. When Ebony, Margo's BFF and mother figure who is catering the event, is found standing next to the bloody body holding a carving knife, she becomes the prime suspect for his murder. Refusing to believe Ebony is the killer, Margo begins her own investigation. Margo is a sassy and gutsy super sleuth. She follows a trail that leads her to many suspects and has many twists and turns. In the end, the killer may surprise you.

A DISGUISE TO DIE FOR is a very cleverly written whodunit with some pulse pounding suspense. Her characters are colorful and lots of fun. I particularly enjoy the handsome Tak Hoshiyama, and he cooks too! How romantic is it when he takes Margo to his family's restaurant after hours and becomes a teppanyaki chef just for her? I have the feeling Tak will return in Ms, Vallere's next book, which I will be waiting to read and enjoy. A DISGUISE TO DIE FOR is highly recommended and in addition to being a delicious read has fun recipes, costume ideas, and an excerpt of the next costume shop mystery, MASKING FOR TROUBLE. You have a new fan, Diane Vallee. A DISGUES TO DIE FOR is fun, exciting and very creative with Margo Tamblyn, a pure delight talking things through with her cat, Soot. She's a good daughter, but will she carry on Disguise DeLimit and discover it is where she is meant to be? Time will tell and so will the next book, coming soon, I hope.

SUMMARY

Someone is dressed to kill in the debut Costume Shop Mystery from the national bestselling author of the Material Witness mysteries.

No sooner does former magician’s assistant Margo Tamblyn return home to Proper City, Nevada, to run Disguise DeLimit, her family’s costume shop, than she gets her first big order. Wealthy nuisance Blitz Manners needs forty costumes for a detective-themed birthday bash. As for Blitz himself, his Sherlock Holmes is to die for—literally—when, in the middle of the festivities, Margo’s friend and party planner Ebony Welles is caught brandishing a carving knife over a very dead Blitz.

For Margo, clearing Ebony’s name is anything but elementary, especially after Ebony flees town. Now Margo is left to play real-life detective in a town full of masked motives, cloaked secrets, and veiled vendettas. But as she soon learns, even a killer disguise can’t hide a murderer in plain sight for long.

INCLUDES RECIPES AND COSTUME IDEAS!
