Emily and Etienne Miceli are taking their seniors through
Germany during Oktoberfest, and they are sharing their
tour with a couple of different bands who are performing
at some of their stops. The seniors from Iowa are always
up for a little beer!
Everyone is heading to their hotel
when an explosion injures Emily and kills one of the
group. Astrid was an accordion player for one of the
bands. All
the band members work at the same
company and the CEO is traveling with the group to
support his employees. No one has a bad word to say
about Astrid but as the tour progresses, Emily isn't
convinced the death was an accident.
Despite warnings from
the local police, Emily steps into the investigation.
To complicate matters, when Emily is injured she has both
Etienne and her mother hovering. Emily always loves
traveling with
her Gran but her mother
is another thing. Etienne and her mother are interfering
with Emily's questions. As much as she loves Etienne,
she can't give up the idea only she can solve the
mystery.
This is the first book of the Passport to Peril<.i>
series in
which
we meet Emily's parents. Her
father displays some unexpected talents, surprising the
entire family, and steals some
thunder from the bands.
Ms. Hunter's Passport to Peril series is a favorite
of
mine. Emily blunders around causing havoc in every
investigation. Her thoughts on who the killer is are
almost
always wrong, and FROM BAD TO WURST follows the
same pattern keeping the reader entertained as they try
to put together the clues. The murder is often solved
despite Emily's investigative skills. The characters are
so much fun in this series, and the situations Emily
manages to find herself will always entertain.
It's Oktoberfest and the globetrotting Iowa seniors are
sharing their Sounds of Music adventure with several oompah
bands whose dream of performing in a famous German beer hall
is about to be realized. But when a deadly relic from
wartime Munich rains disaster on the group, their dreams are
shattered—until an unlikely guest offers them new hope.
The tour hits a sour note when tragedy strikes a guest who
knew the musicians' most guarded secrets. Was the death an
unfortunate accident or something more sinister? As the
group travels from the beer tents of Munich to the fairytale
castle of Mad King Ludwig, Emily strives to restore harmony.
But with the situation escalating out of control, could the
gang be looking at a terrible end to their German interlude?
