Nina is engaged to Congressman Terrence Donnelly. So why
isn't she is over the moon? Nina needs to get away from
all the parties she is expected to attend so she
decides a business trip to Alaska is just what she
needs. She declines the offer of having security come with her because she
just wants to be alone.
While in Alaska, she is knocked out and wakes
up to find Baer (or so he says that is his name) has
kidnapped her. Nina has to endure the attacks on her body,
both from Baer and the extremely cold weather. Baer takes her way into the Alaska
country
side where Nina is locked up in a cage like an animal. What Nina finds
in the cage could save her life. Nina is unaware of the fact that Baer has done this
several times, until she finds a
notebook written by Baer's previous victim.
Alan Russell writes a real thriller with A COLD WAR. There are so many
different twists and turns in this novel that I never would have guessed the way
this book
turns out. I also love the
description of the Alaskan country side. There are some
slow parts in A COLD WAR, but once you get through them, the
rest of the books is fast moving.
In my mind, Alan Russell's writing is just as great as
James Patterson. Alan keeps you guessing though the whole
book. I found myself cheering for Nina to escape her
kidnapper but then realize the previous victim didn't make it.
Sit back and try not to jump at some of the story line in A COLD WAR.
Nina Granville believes her business trip to Alaska will
give her a short respite from the merry-go-round that came
with her engagement to Congressman Terrence Donnelly. But
instead of allowing her the peace she craves, Nina’s getaway
from the public eye means that no one witnesses her
abduction into a very cold hell.
Taken by a mountain man who calls himself Baer and then
transported to a remote cabin surrounded by nothing but
frozen wilderness, Nina descends into a nightmare of terror,
privation, and bitter cold. Nina’s privileged life did not
prepare her for imprisonment at the hands of this
survivalist trapper. If she is to live—and to escape—Nina
realizes she must do it on her own.
Undaunted and with startling determination, Nina pits
herself against her captor, her fear, and nature itself in a
battle for her life—but can she win against such deadly
opponents?
