Maybelle Ballenger -- known as "Bluebell" -- learned at a
young age how to take care of herself and her friends. The
one thing she lacks is a proper accent. Bram Hallowsby got
the right education, but as the bastard son of a duke,
he'll
never be accepted by the ton. When Bram is stranded in the
remote town of Hull, Maybelle realizes he is her chance to
escape the village and be accepted in London.
Author Jade Lee has a knack for putting her hero and
heroine
into impossible situations. Reading ONE ROGUE AT A TIME, I
couldn't imagine how Bram and Bluebell would be able to
achieve their goals and end up happily together, too. She
had me wondering right to the end. Getting there is a
magnificent romp through small towns and London townhouses.
She populates her stories with unique and memorable
characters, from whinging society swindlers to good-natured
villagers to a cantankerous pig. The story also has its
fair
share of intrigue; Bram is providing protection for the
aforesaid swindlers, and one of their marks is hell-bent to
get his money back.
ONE ROGUE AT A TIME is a fast-paced, exciting reinvention
of
the Pygmalion myth, with spicy love scenes and smart
banter.
It's a great choice for fans of Regency and historical
romance who like their love stories laced with a little
mystery and danger.
Brant Hallowsby grew up on the fringes of high society;
he’s neither a commoner nor a true nobleman. As a bastard
son of nobility, he can talk the talk, but ultimately has
nothing to lose…and that’s exactly what Bluebell Ballenger
needs.
Bluebell needs Brant’s help so that she can become a
perfect English rose, because, like him, she’s both a part
of the ton and excluded from it. Brant knows she’s hiding
something from him, but as he starts falling for her soft
skin and sparkling eyes, it no longer seems to matter.
Until
he discovers the one thing that could tear them apart.
