It is 1727 and left behind in England by her parents, Riona
Duffy is staying with her uncle's family for the foreseeable
future. Well, at least she will get a break from nursing her
ill sister and get to spend time with her cousin Cat when she
returns from the countryside. But Riona, who has lived much of
her life in the shadows, is suddenly thrust into the limelight
when an infuriating Highlander spirits her away to Scotland
and declares she is to be his bride, as promised by a
contract from many years ago. Realising that they have the
wrong person and actually want her cousin, Riona tries to
reason with her captor, who refuses to believe her. Stubborn
and strong, Riona determines that she will have to make this
controlling, handsome, Chieftain recognise the error of his
ways and release her immediately - and she knows just how to
do it. But what happens when anger fades, and desire,
friendship and love take its place?
Hugh McCallum has so many regrets from his past but knows that
now is his time to step away from old pains and bring a bright
future to his clan. And his first step is bringing home his
new bride, Lady Duffy, and recouping the land that is owed to
his people. What he did not expect was a beautiful,
intelligent woman that has gotten under his skin like no other
- even if she refuses to accept her fate and talks rubbish
about him kidnapping the wrong woman. As wariness is replaced
with caring and a scorching heat between them, Hugh believes his
future will be bright with his captivating Riona. But when old
wounds are reopened, and uncertainty lies within the clan,
will Hugh and Riona have to sacrifice everything they have for
the sake of the clan? And now that Riona understands what love
really is, can she stand back and watch him marry his true
betrothed?
THE WRONG BRIDE by Gayle Callen had me gripped from the
beginning and I devoured it in one sitting. Both Riona and Hugh are amazing
characters and I loved watching their relationship develop and grow, with their
many ups and downs. Hugh struggles with the memory of his father, and has
many secrets, and Riona longs to help him exorcise his
demons, even though she knows that once Hugh realises his
error, he must cast her aside. THE WRONG BRIDE by Gayle Callen
is an excellent Highland romance with sizzling passion, loyalty, and love that is
guaranteed to capture your heart. I cannot wait for the next instalment.
USA Today bestselling author Gayle Callen creates an
unforgettable story of mistaken identity and irresistible
attraction in this first in a wonderfully engaging series
set in the Scottish Highlands
Shaken from sleep during the night and bundled off to the
Highlands by a burly Scot, Riona is at first terrified, then
livid. Hugh McCallum insists they were promised to each
other as children to ensure peace between their clans. The
stubborn laird refuses to believe he's kidnapped the wrong
Catriona Duff. Instead, he embarks on a campaign of
slow-burning seduction . . .
At first, Hugh cares only what their marriage can do for his
people. Now he's starting to crave Riona for her own sake,
but her true identity jeopardizes his clan's contract. And
unless she chooses to risk all to be his bride, he'll lose
the only thing he prizes more than the lands he's fought so
hard to save—the passionate marriage they could have together.
