THE STOLEN MACKENZIE BRIDE is Book 8 in Jennifer Ashley's
Mackenzies series. This book is set far in the past, before the other
books take place, which is why I think it's great for readers new to the series
to dive into. Malcolm "Mal" Mackenzie and Lady Mary Lennox have
about as many obstacles in the way of their romance as
Romeo and Juliet. The difference being that they're a
little older, a little wiser, one of them is an ingenious
Scotsman, and there is a happy ending. THE STOLEN
MACKENZIE BRIDE is a perfect mix of sentimental and sexy.
There is quite a bit of action and intrigue in THE STOLEN
MACKENZIE due to the Scottish rebellion taking center
stage. However, family relationships and fated romance is
a big part of the story as well. The rebellion has a huge
affect on Mal's family, with his older brother Duncan
taking up the Jacobite cause and his father, the Duke,
wanting his sons to stay out of it. It didn't really hit
home for Mal until he was faced with the threat of losing
people close to him, as well as having to contend with
Mary's family being on the side of the English
opposition. Jennifer Ashley does a wonderful job of
weaving together an action-packed, exciting bit of storytelling with an
enchanting romance.
Mary makes an unexpected gutsy heroine, and perfect match
for Mal. Their first meeting is incredibly romantic and
kismet. There is a sublime sense of yearning and affinity
that characterizes Mal and Mary's romance that increases
the feeling of intimacy. Mal has a roguish charm, but
that's not all there is to him. Malcolm Mackenzie is one
of the best heroes I've read about not just for his
charm, but for his loyalty and dedication to those he
loves, his vibrant spirit, a potent sexual magnetism, and
a vulnerability and sensitivity when it comes to the
woman he loves. After reading THE STOLEN MACKENZIE BRIDE,
I'm sure that you will be just as captivated by Mal as I
am.
THE STOLEN MACKENZIE BRIDE is a story that will linger
with you long after you've finished reading it. The
intersection of fiction and history makes for a
fascinating story. THE STOLEN MACKENZIE BRIDE has a
strong emotional resonance and characters with depth. I
can't wait for the next installment and Mackenzie
adventure.
