Sheriff Jon Cantrell was a contractor for the federal
government, but he is now trying to lead a nice quiet life as a
small town sheriff. When his deputy is killed in a sleazy
hotel, Sheriff Cantrell begins to look into the crime. Unfortunately for him
the federal government comes knocking again and he is enlisted
to look into a series of attacks on power stations. The
attacks are beginning to escalate and could put millions into
situations where they will be without power. Sheriff Cantrell
looks into both issues and it leads to a series of twists and
turns that leave you shocked.
I have not read Harry Hunsicker before THE GRID, but I really
enjoyed it. THE GRID is two stories working at the same time
that come together beautifully, a real page turner. Poor,
tormented Sheriff Cantrell has some serious personal drama
that gives an interesting addition to the story. You can't
help but wonder how he deals with everything but still does a
superb job of investigating.
THE GRID can be read as a standalone. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Once you read
THE GRID it makes you want to go out and read the other stories in the
series. Not to mention I can't wait for the next one. Harry
Hunsicker has a great character and even better story that
will keep readers entertained for many books to come.
A former federal law enforcement contractor with a somewhat
spotty record, Jon Cantrell has seen—and done—just about
everything. Now he’s a sheriff, keeping the peace in
small-town Texas. He thought that he’d finally settled into
a quiet, less-complicated life—until his deputy gets himself
murdered. Soon Cantrell’s search for the killer points to an
online-dating site designed for extramarital affairs and to
a woman who may have been the unfortunate deputy’s last date.
Meanwhile, someone is staging a series of seemingly random
attacks on the regional power grid, and Cantrell is
reluctantly pulled back into the federal fray when he
accepts an off-the-books assignment to uncover the culprit.
With the power company and the feds impatient for an
arrest—and clues in his deputy’s case pointing to something
more sinister—Cantrell must run parallel, conflicting
investigations. But will he find what he’s looking for? Or
is he about to take a fall?
