Romance Historical

THE HIGHWAYMAN is the first book in the Victorian Rebel series by Kerrigan Byrne and it is one the best romance that I have read this year.

The story starts with two kids, Farah and Dougan, who spend two years of their lives together in orphanage, fell in love, and married. When one fateful night, Dougan tries to protect Farah, everything goes wrong and they become separated. Seventeen years later, Farah is a respectable widow and works for Metropolitan Police Headquarters otherwise known as Scotland Yard, and finally considering marriage again in hopes of having the children she has always wanted until Dorian Blackwell, the Blackheart of Ben More, get arrested by police and kidnap her.

Dorian Blackwell is a hard-hearted, scarred and ruthless villain who has been looking for Farah for years and never imagined that he'd find her in Scotland Yard. Now Farah's life is in danger and Dorian will do anything to protect her. THE HIGHWAYMAN is the first book I read by Kerrigan Byrne and I must say, wow, this book is stunning, intensely emotional, heartbreaking, romantic and dark with secrets. Kerrigan Byrne's writing captivates the readers through the whole story and even after you finish the book you can't stop thinking about it. Her writing is perfect with some detail that you can use your imagination but nothing overwhelming or boring. She keeps you guessing that if Dorian is Dougan, or he is what he claims to be.

Farah and Dorian's story is kind of beauty and beast, with a sweet and angelic heroine and a scarred, possessive and jealous hero who sacrifices anything for the woman he loves. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next one in this series.

SUMMARY

They're rebels, scoundrels, and blackguards-dark, dashing men on the wrong side of the law. But for the women who love them, a hint of danger only makes the heart beat faster, in the stunning debut historical romance The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne.

STEALING BEAUTY

Dorian Blackwell, the Blackheart of Ben More, is a ruthless villain. Scarred and hard-hearted, Dorian is one of Victorian London's wealthiest, most influential men who will stop at nothing to wreak vengeance on those who've wronged him...and will fight to the death to seize what he wants. The lovely, still innocent widow Farah Leigh Mackenzie is no exception-and soon Dorian whisks the beautiful lass away to his sanctuary in the wild Highlands...

COURTING DESIRE

But Farah is no one's puppet. She possesses a powerful secret-one that threatens her very life. When being held captive by Dorian proves to be the only way to keep Farah safe from those who would see her dead, Dorian makes Farah a scandalous proposition: marry him for protection in exchange for using her secret to help him exact revenge on his enemies. But what the Blackheart of Ben More never could have imagined is that Farah has terms of her own, igniting a tempestuous desire that consumes them both. Could it be that the woman he captured is the only one who can touch the black heart he'd long thought dead?
