Romance Historical

HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER is Book 1 in Sabrina York's Untamed Highlanders series. I love HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER! Although this is the first book I've read by Sabrina York, it will definitely not be my last. HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER has everything I hope for in a book, and especially in a hero.

Hannah Dounreay is my kind of heroine -- intelligent, pragmatic, and kind. However, as much as I like Hannah, the hero kind of steals the show. At the opening of the story, Hannah locks eyes with a muscular and fierce looking Highland warrior. Although she immediately falls in lust with that man, she assumes -- much like I would -- that a man like that probably wouldn't be the kind of caring and thoughtful man she yearned for. She was wrong. Alexander Lochlannach, Laird of Dunnet, is everything she wanted and more. After being tempered by a brutal childhood, Alexander is both a strong and extremely sweet man. This combination of physical strength and depth of caring is a heady mix.

I normally hate too many misunderstandings in a story. The communication problems Hannah and Alexander have at the beginning of HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER are because of Alexander's stuttering, and the fact that he tries to keep Hannah from knowing about it. Without knowing about his problem, Hannah misinterprets some of Alexander's actions. I like that Sabrina York gives a legitimate reason for these romance miscues and keeps them to a minimum. Having the story told from both perspectives helps the reader understand both characters a little more. I love how they both have more in common than they first realize. For different reasons, they both have some feelings of inadequacy when it comes to their siblings, even though they have good relationships with them.

HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER is a lively and charming romance set amid the beauty of the highlands. HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER is super sexy with great characters and imaginative storytelling. This is one of those books that you won't be able to put down. The supporting characters in HANNAH AND THE HIGHLANDER are just as interesting as the main characters. Two of the characters that especially captured my imagination are Hannah's sister Lana, with her special abilities, and the enigmatic Duke of Caithness. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in this Untamed Highlanders series by Sabrina York!

SUMMARY

First in a brand-new series from New York Times bestselling author Sabrina York about the bold, brawny men of the Highlands-and the lovely lasses who bring them to their knees...

Highlanders are her weakness. Hannah Dounreay has no time for suitors who only seem interested in her family's land, which she manages as well as any man. If she marries, she wants to be loved for the educated, independent woman she is. But when a strong, silent-and spectacularly handsome-Highlander saves her from a violent attack, her heart is stirred. Who is this man? And if he asks for Hannah's hand, will she be able to resist him?

Love is the most powerful weapon of all. Alexander Lochlannach, Laird of Dunnet, has no time to lose. The Highlands are in an uproar as clans battle for land-without mercy-and Alexander can't afford to fall for the wildly attractive, strong-willed Hannah. What's more, he has a desperate secret, one that could destroy them both. But as their attraction turns into an all-consuming passion, Alexander has no choice but to prove to Hannah that he's the only man for her-body and soul...in Hannah and the Highlander.
