THE DARING EXPLOITS OF A RUNAWAY HEIRESS is a delicious
delight! I fell in love with Lucinda Merriweather and
Cameron Fairfield Effington, and found them to be a fun and
enchanting couple on a very romantic journey together.
Lucinda, 24, is in London, her family an ocean apart in
America. Named for her Aunt Lucinda, Lucy was left a
sizable fortune along with a journal containing a
kind of "bucket list" of things Aunt Lucinda would have liked to
have done in her life and never did. Lucy has decided to
fulfill her Aunt's unfulfilled wishes. She hires Clara
West, her own age, as a lady's companion to properly
accompany her and the adventures begin. Lucy is beautiful,
free, rich and ready to reach for her dreams and leave no
regrets. Time to begin checking off some things on Aunt
Lucinda's list.
Dashing, handsome and wealthy in his own right, Cameron
Fairchild Effington is the youngest son of a Duke. He
loves to write and wants to be the next Mark Twain. He
writes for a gossip rag, THE DAILY MESSENGER. When he hears
about an American heiress running about London and her
pursuits, he follows her and decides to make her
his muse. He begins to write humorous stories, calling the
story DARING EXPLOITS. They are a smash sensation. Lucy
believes Cam is a private investigator hired to watch over
her. Cam knows she will be upset when she discovers who he really
is and that he is writing about her. In fact, he turns her
adventures into a well-received book. They both have secrets but when is the
right time to share them with each other?
I love the way Victoria Alexander tells a story and the
results are a complete delight. Riding an elephant,
getting painted "almost" nude, taking a lover she never
plans to see again, and dressing as a man to sneak into
PRITCHARD'S, a stuffy Gentlemen's Club that refuses to let
women in, are some of her madcap undertakings. Cameron
goes along and soon discovers he is falling in love with
her. The action-filled story kept me laughing and riveted
to each page. Untruths and secrets galore as Cam and Lucy find
their way to each other. In a balcony scene from Romeo and
Juliet, you will cheer for these lovers and applaud their
kiss. You have a new and loyal fan, Victoria Alexander. I
truly loved this book.
To Do: Swim naked in the moonlight Play in a high stakes card game Ride an
elephant Be painted sans clothing. Take a lover. . . Lucy Merryweather has
inherited a fortune--and her great-aunt\'s list of unfulfilled wishes. What
better way to honor her memory than by accomplishing as many of them as
possible? And with Lucy\'s family an ocean away in New York, nothing stands
in her way--if one ignores the private investigator hired to spy on her. Yet
Cameron Effington is infuriatingly difficult to ignore. . . As a reporter,
Cameron is always looking for a good story. An American heiress running
rampant between Millworth Manor and Mayfair is the perfect subject. Not to
mention captivating. And extremely kissable. And if Lucy believes he\'s a
detective? Well, the truth should never get in the way of a good story--or
hinder delicious, impetuous passion. . .
