Hedeby A.D. 850 was a fateful year for Viking Harek
Sigurdsson. He was a successful businessman, with a few
wives and several concubines, but he was also excessively
greedy. His latest venture entailed slave trading; his
friend and business partner, Toriq, was adamantly against
the idea, especially after Harek suggested a second run.
And that's when Harek saw "Mike" for the first time. Mike
being Archangel Michael; yes him. Mike had dealt with
Harek's brothers in the past, and he'd had it with
Harek's shenanigans. So in order to atone for his
innumerable sins, Harek will be a vangel for at least the
next 700 years, or else he'll be going directly to Hell.
However, Harek forgot to ask Mike what a vangel is!
And anyone else who doesn't know what a vangel is, Sandra
Hill explains it all perfectly. They are avenging vampire
angels who protect humans against demon vampires, of
course. Fear not, everything is crystal clear! In the
latest instalment of Ms. Hill's fabulously entertaining
Deadly Angels series, it's 2015 and Harek has to
go work with the SEALs, more specifically Camille
Dumaine, a WEAL -- the SEALs' women's division. Camo
(Camille) is somewhat ordinary-looking, unless she smiles.
And upon seeing her smile and shaking her hand, Harek
knows Camo is his life mate, but now is so not the time!
Sandra Hill never ceases to astonish me! While I mostly
read the books in the Deadly Angels series for
the sheer fun of it, I never expect the plot to be of
utmost interest. In EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES, there is
a solid story that is the icing on the delectable cake!
Harek joins a team whose mission is to capture a group of
extremists who abduct young girls, and the author has
obviously done a considerable amount of research on SEALs
operations, as it feels totally authentic. Ms. Hill knows the Viking world, but it is
still beyond
me how she can make what could be a disastrous mishmash
into a coherent whole; it works, it always does! Ms. Hill
also blends her elegant prose along with the coarse and
vulgar dialogues and thoughts of the wild Vikings to
tremendously successful results. Right from the beginning
of the first chapter, I was laughing my fool head off!
In Camille Dumaine, Sandra Hill has possibly written her
best female character ever: Camo is as tough as Harek,
she is entirely believable as a WEAL; Camo and Harek have
great chemistry, their banter is funny; they're just
plain fun together. EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES is more
action-packed than the previous book, and just as sexy
and funny, of course; it's a perfect package! I love the
previous instalments. I expected a lot, and EVEN VAMPIRES
GET THE BLUES more than meets my expectations!
New York Times bestselling author Sandra Hill
delivers a sizzling new entry in her Deadly Angels series,
as a Viking vangel's otherworldly mission teams him with a
Navy SEAL who's more than his match— she's his predestined
mate . . .
The fact that vampire angel Harek
Sigurdsson was a Norseman in his mortal life doesn't make
thawing out after exile in Siberia any easier. But things
heat up when his search for evil Lucipires connects him with
Camille Dumaine, a human who thrums with sensual energy that
can mean only one thing: she's the mate Harek's been seeking
for centuries . . .
The SEALs call her "Camo" for her
ability to blend into a crowd—yet Harek's intense blue gaze
singles Camille out like a white-hot spotlight. The security
wiz was hired to help bring down a ruthless band of
international kidnappers, but Camille senses an unspoken
agenda—besides Harek's bold declaration that she's his
"destiny." Just Camille's luck that the sexiest man she's
ever met may also be . . . a vampire!
