Amish | Inspirational Romance | Romance Contemporary

Joseph King is a 23-year-old Amish man. His job is exhausting mentally, physically, and spiritually. He is driven to keep his 21-year-old brother Edward safe and away from the world's influence. While they are working on a gas drilling rig in West Virginia, Joseph sees Priscilla go to the car and discovers she and her daughter, Hollie, are living in it. He must do something to help them.

Priscilla has been hired as a waitress on a one-week trial. She is running from an abusive relationship. Even though she is divorced from her husband, he wont let them go. This is why she has such a hard time accepting that Joseph wants to help her. Can she trust him? Will she ever be safe and not looking over her shoulder? AN AMISH MAN OF ICE MOUNTAIN is not your usual Amish story, trust me on that.

Joseph tells Priscilla that he knows of a safe place and he is willing to take her there. Priscilla agrees and even though she is afraid, they head to Ice Mountain, Pennsylvania. Her mother had been Amish but left to marry her Englisch dad. Priscilla is a very strong woman and does whatever it takes to keep her child and herself safe. She has a good heart and is a good person. Through the twists and turns of the story, Priscilla finds true contentment and love as she learns to trust and let go of her fears.

The Bishop agrees to let Priscilla and Hollie stay in their Amish community, and he assigns Joseph as Priscilla's prayer partner. Hollie is tired of running and embraces life on Ice Mountain even though when her mom sees something bad and wants to run, Hollie stands her ground and refuses to leave. Joseph wants Priscilla to stay and heal. But Joseph feels he doesn't deserve a family because of bad things he did as a teenager.

AN AMISH MAN OF ICE MOUNTAIN is filled with amazing writing and is such an unusual story for an Amish novel. Kelly Long does a wonderful job of mixing the Amish and the Englisch lives in this series. This heartbreaking tale takes on a subject that you don't normally read about in a Amish story. There is some sexual content but nothing erotic or anything that made me feel uncomfortable. I am enjoying this series and really looking forward to reading THE AMISH HEART OF ICE MOUNTAIN when it comes out in October 2015. I read this story in one afternoon and found myself wanting to continue reading about Joseph and Priscilla even though the last page was read.

SUMMARY

Joseph King has good reasons to work an oil rig far from his beloved Ice Mountain . . . and to mind his own business. He hopes to protect his younger brother Edward from worldly influences. And maybe he can finally forget how yielding to temptation forced him to leave home in disgrace. Still, no honorable Amish man would let Priscilla Allen and her four-year-old daughter remain homeless, living out of their car. And how can he not be drawn to the feisty waitress's bravery and hidden strength . . .

Offering Priscilla a home on Ice Mountain as his wife-in-name-only gives her a place to start again. For Joseph, it's also an unexpected chance to regain his reputation and standing in the community. But Priscilla's warmth, caring, and determination to adjust to Amish society are renewing Joseph's long-buried hope. Now as his guilt and her wrenching secrets threaten the fragile trust growing between them, they will need the riskiest of miracles to put the past to rest--and fulfill a promise only love and renewed faith can bring.
