In Ellensburg, Washington, a former lover who claims her
infant son, Joey, is his child and not her late-husband's
is stalking war-widow Laurie Trotter. Even when DNA tests
prove he's wrong, the psycho and his brother won't leave
her alone. Circumstances become too much to bear, so with
only the local sheriff's knowledge, Laurie, an excellent
cook, and Joey quietly leave town, heading for a new life
in Seattle.
In Seattle, Cheryl Wheeler, owner of the popular food truck
Grill Girl, is devastated when her truck blows up, killing
her only employee and best friend Maureen Forester. Away at
the time of the explosion, Cheryl was signing a contract
with Atlantis Film Group to cater a six-week movie shoot
for a high-profile major motion picture set in Seattle.
With it starting in less than a month, Cheryl is thrilled
to receive a delicious dessert from Laurie Trotter asking
for a job. It's even more icing on the cake when Laurie
adds that movie director Gil Garrett is her godfather.
Cheryl, obsessed with the Garretts and needing someone
immediately for the new catering gig, offers Laurie the job.
The web of suspense and mystery starts as soon as Laurie
arrives in Seattle. Cheryl conveniently finds Laurie and
Joey a place to live near her, while Gil Garrett's
connection to the movie, based on a famous murder case 45
years ago and filming in the same location as the murders,
becomes suspicious. As more murders related to the movie
occur, it's obvious someone is manipulating the situation.
The final revelation is shocking.
NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW is another exemplary thriller from the
highly talented Kevin O'Brien. He cleverly weaves
together the numerous subplots and characters into an
explosive finale, keeping readers' rapt attention
throughout with meticulously structured suspense. I've
never read a Kevin O'Brien novel that I didn't
enjoy, and NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW is no different.
A SECRET WORTH KILLING FOR…
In July 1970, actress Elaina Styles was slain in her rented
Seattle mansion along with her husband and their son's
nanny. When the baby's remains were found buried in a
shallow grave close to a hippie commune, police moved
in—only to find all its members already dead in a grisly
mass suicide.
AGAIN…
Now, decades later, a film about the murders is shooting at
the mansion. On-set caterer Laurie Trotter ignores gossip
that the production is cursed. But then people start dying…
AND AGAIN…
As Laurie digs deep into what happened all those years ago,
the truth emerges more twisted than any whispered rumor, as
a legacy of brutal vengeance reaches its terrifying climax…
