Western | Suspense | Romance

Stanton Rourke has lived his life on the edge, facing the danger as a mercenary without a thought. His life had changed when he was robbed of his friend and playmate and that act turned him into an UNTAMED man. He couldn't stop himself from acting out toward her so he lived with danger that took him far away.

Clarisse Carrington had always loved Rourke and couldn't understand why he suddenly turned cruel. She tries hard to keep her distance, tired of being hurt by the hateful man he had become. But too many times she turns and finds him there when she least expects it.

Things miraculously change and her world is righted ... only to come collapsing down on her again and with no one to turn to she must make the best of things. When it becomes dangerous he is once again someone she can turn to. But how much more can her poor heart take? And what about the secret she has kept from him?

The road to true love is often bumpy but in UNTAMED it is a real minefield. One of the things I have always admired about author Diana Palmer's books is she doesn't seem to care if you don't like her heroes, she makes them very human which means that have a number of weaknesses and a lot of faults. She lets you be furious with them but she also knows how to turn the mood and you find yourself rooting for them after all. Ms. Palmer's writing style always has you sitting right there in the middle of the action feeling everything that is said and done ... and sometimes it isn't always a comfortable spot to be in, but one you wouldn't miss for anything.

Followers of her books have had dealings with Rourke before, but in this one the painful truths come out, giving you sympathy for his feelings. To give details would give away too much of the plot, but it will lead to understanding this tortured man. I can say he suffers an injury that leads to a bout with amnesia ... that leads to more problems for Clarisse. All I can say is Rourke is very lucky that she is a sweet, loving woman. If you are looking for a highly emotional roller coaster of a love story, the right touches of suspense and danger, and a chance to visit with some of the characters from the Jacobsville area then UNTAMED is one you cannot miss.

SUMMARY

Stanton Rourke lives life on the edge. The steely mercenary is dangerous in every way…especially to Clarisse Carrington's heart. She and Rourke were playmates as children, but she's not the innocent girl he once knew. When tragedy robbed Clarisse of her entire family, her life was changed forever. Besides, she's a grown woman now, and there are secrets that hold her back from succumbing to her pursuer. As she struggles to keep her distance, sparks as hot as a Texas summer fly between them. But danger is following Clarisse, leaving her no choice but to rely on Rourke, even as the old wounds lying dormant between them flare up again…
