HARDPRESSED starts off where Hardwired left off, so I recommend reading them in order.

Blake is now a silent investor in Erica's internet company Clozpin. Erica works really hard to keep their business and personal relationship separate. She doesn't want Blake to help, she wants to do it all on her own. Even if Blake and Sid could handle the hacker quickly. As Clozpin grows, Erica has now set up the business in a building, not owned by Blake, and has hired a few more employees.

Someone is targeting Erica's business and they don't know who or why. Instead of Erica allowing Blake to help her, she takes matters into her own hands and goes to see an old hacker's sibling that may be behind the attacks on Clozpin. Although she didn't get the answers she was looking for, she did come out of that confrontation with all her limbs attached.

However, just when things seem to calm down a bit, Erica's father reappears and stirs things up. After attending an event hosted by Erica's father, someone ends up dead, and now Erica is being questioned. Erica finally sees the side of her father and understands now why her mother has always kept his identity a secret. To save those she loves, Erica does what is asked of her, all the while trying to find a way to still keep her independence. However, her father didn't count on how determined Erica is to be her own person, and not live under anyone's direction.

I really love the Hacker series! Erica is now just starting to show her true inner strength and determination. HARDPRESSED is book two in the Hacker series, and this is one series that must be read in order. Like book one, HARDPRESSED is just as fast paced with twists throughout the entire storyline. I felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic, but I also wonder if that is intentionally done.

Meredith Wild's Hacker Series is quickly becoming my favorite series! I certainly cannot wait to see what Meredith Wild does with her characters in Hardlined, book three!

SUMMARY

In HARDPRESSED, the highly anticipated second book of the Hacker Series that began with Hardwired, Blake and Erica face threats that put both their love and their lives on the line. Despite Blake Landon's controlling ways, the young and wealthy hacker finally won the trust of the woman he loves. Internet entrepreneur Erica Hathaway broke down the walls that kept her from opening her heart and her business to Blake. Ready to start this new chapter in her life, Erica is determined not to let anything come between them, even if that means giving Blake back some of the control he craves in and out of the bedroom. But when demons from her past threaten their future, Erica makes a decision that could change their lives forever.
