Ever since their affair ended years ago, Julian, the
Nightkind King, and Melisande, the daughter of the Light
Fae Queen, have tried to put their past behind them simply
by keeping distance between them. She had not forgotten
what it felt to be the recipient of MIDNIGHT'S KISS but
was
going on with her life. Until she is kidnapped by Justine,
a powerful Vampyre of the Nightkind council, and someone
who is at war with Julian.
Positive that Julian is not about to come to her rescue
Melly is determined to rescue herself. To her shock Julian
does come to give himself up to save her but they both end
up as captives. Armed with only their wits and anger Melly
and Julian must work together to escape. Is it possible to
work through their complicated history ... and what about
the
fiery passion, that neither had managed to completely
extinguish, that is ready to blaze out of control? As they
race to stop Justine and save the demesne will the past be
forgiven and forgotten or will it destroy them again?
You will find yourself completely mesmerized by MIDNIGHT'S
KISS. Author Thea Harrison transports readers back to her
Elder Races world and tosses us into the action
from the
very first word and it is non-stop to the last. This is
definitely Julian and Melly's story but where Night's
Honor ends this one begins and we get to see the
interaction these two have with each other and those from
the past book. Xavier and Tess are back along with a
number
of others that avid readers of Ms. Harrison will
recognize.
Even Carling and Rune have their moment in this storyline.
I couldn't wait to find out what had broken this couple up
all those years ago and when I did I knew immediately what
had happened and silently patted myself on the back when
they realized the truth, because I was right. I am afraid
I would not have been quite as forgiving as she was toward
the perpetrator of the lie but ... it was understandable
and
fitting for Melly's sweet nature. Don't get me wrong Melly
is sweet and forgiving but she is also a fighter and given
the second chance with Julian she will fight for him as
well as fight by his side. Julian has his bad side, which
after losing Melly had gotten worse, but some of it comes
from the fact that it was time to take a stand and it was
remarkable when he does just that with his maker and
stands
up to the council of his kind. I hated to see MIDNIGHT'S
KISS end. This one is on my TRA shelf and I can't wait for
more.
