Have you ever thought about what happens when the
characters from your favorite fairy tales grow up? Well
A. N. Roquelaure has and she has taken it one step
further. Her characters have grown up and are enjoying a
much more scandalous lifestyle. BEAUTY'S KINGDOM by A. N.
ROQUELAURE is a great read. She has continued the story
of Beauty and many of the other princesses and princes
that readers met in the previous three books. This is the
next installment to their story so it is important that
the previous books are read first or readers will not get
the whole effect of the story.
I loved the first three books and was excited to see
BEAUTY'S KINGDOM come out. We are taken back to the
kingdom that we were introduced to in the beginning of
Beauty's tale. Yet this time around Beauty and Laurent
are not the slaves that they once were but the rulers and
they have many changes that they plan to make.
I was quickly lost in their story right from the start. I
found myself immersed in each characters memories and
thoughts for their future. So many questions come to mind
as you read this tale. Could those that served return and
did they even want to? Was it an enjoyable time that they
remember fondly or do they regret? I enjoyed the
reminiscing some of the characters did and in their own
way answered many of the questions I thought of.
It was interesting to see how some of the princes and
princesses assimilate into the new kingdom. Emotions are
strong and there are many highs and lows that come with
such strong emotions and remembrances. I loved seeing
the interaction between the royalty that was once brought
in as slaves and those that were once their masters and
are now on equal footing. It was nice to see the inner
struggles and strengths that the characters go through
and how they command themselves. The author has a
wonderful imagination and paints a sensual picture
building a wonderful world of indulgence.
I enjoyed coming back to a world of such pleasures.
BEAUTY'S KINGDOM is a treat and should not be missed. If
you enjoyed the original trilogy you will not be
disappointed in this new addition.
