It is 1843, and the beautiful little highland town of
Moraig,
is struggling to survive. Unwilling to sit around and do
nothing, William MacKenzie, the future heir to Kilmartie
Castle, has come up with a plan. He has organised Highland
Games and has invited a reporter from the London Times, in
the
hopes that it will draw tourists from London, to their
picturesque village. Loved by the townspeople, William
does
not want any credit for his hard work and just wants
everything to go perfectly. But he hadn't planned on the
reporter to be a woman. And not just any woman - but the
most
beautiful woman he has ever laid eyes on. Instantly
mumbling
and at a loss for words, William does not make the best
first
impression.
Miss Penelope Tolbertson has worked extremely hard to
establish her career and is determined to be a success.
Having
a slight stammer, she is sure the highlander is mocking
her
with his bumbling greeting. And deciding that she will
stay
with family that she has in the village, throws all of
Williams plans into disarray. But as she begins her
research
for the story, Penelope soon discovers that there is so
much
more to William. Spending more time together, it is not
long
before their attraction grows, and as curiosity takes
over,
Penelope plans to seduce him. Wanting to experience love
with
her handsome highlander, she is happy to return to her
life in
London, once the story is complete. But as passion
develops
into so much more, will they be able to walk away
unscathed?
With William dedicated to his hometown, and Penelope
dedicated
to her career, will they ever be able to find a way to be
together?
HER HIGHLAND FLING by Jennifer McQuiston is a short,
sassy,
romantic read that brought the picturesque town of Moraig
and
its inhabitants, to life. William is such a thoughtful,
considerate character, with passion that knows no bounds.
Yet
he does not expect Penelope to sacrifice everything for
him,
and I admired that about him. Penelope is determined,
successful and willing to take risks to get what she
wants.
The story flows beautifully, and the description of the
Highlands transported me there. HER HIGHLAND FLING by
Jennifer
McQuiston is a thoroughly entertaining highland romance,
and I
cannot wait to read more from this author.
William MacKenzie has always been protective of his
Scottish
village. When Moraig's economy falters, he has the perfect
solution to lure wealthy Londoners to this tiny hamlet:
resurrect the ancient Highland Games! But for this to
work,
William knows he needs a reporter to showcase the town in
just the right light.
A female journalist might be a tolerated oddity in
Brighton,
but newly minted reporter Penelope Tolbertson is
discovering
that finding respect in London is a far more difficult
prospect. After receiving an invitation to cover Moraig's
Highland Games, Penelope is determined to prove to her
London editors just how valuable she can be.
Penelope instantly captures William's heart, but she is
none
too impressed with the gruff, broody Highlander; however,
as
she begins to understand his plans, Penelope discovers she
may want more from him than just a story. She's only got a
few days … but maybe a few days are all they need.
