Megan Anderson arrives home to Anderson Butte, Colorado in
defeat with
her two and a half year old daughter Haley. Always the
black sheep of the family
and screw-up of the small town, Meg is back with her head
down after yet
another failure. Her father is the town mayor, one
brother the sheriff, and
one a doctor and she has a sister who runs the hotel.
The town survives on
a pact of secrecy to protect celebrities seeking a place
to vacation away
from publicity. All of the success of the residents has
been at the power
and control of her father. Everyone has been given strict
orders they are
not to aid Meg at all, including giving her a job or
loaning her money to
force her to assume some responsibility.
Josh Granger fell in love with the pixie with the attitude
when assigned his
job by the FBI under the alias of Sam Coulter to
investigate her father,
Mitchell, of on-line gambling charges. Learning that Meg
is pregnant
forces him to break things off in order to protect her and
the infant she is
carrying. Unable to tell Meg anything of his real
reasons, she believes
just one more person has deserted her. Eventually Josh
quits the FBI to
be with Meg and Haley, but is met with a gun toting
grandma intent on
giving him what she believes he deserves. Now Josh has
the challenge of
mending fences with Meg while still hiding the truth,
until the case
reaches it's conclusion. The challenge is convincing Meg
he truly loves
her and wants a forever life with her and their child.
Meg's problem is
being lied to and able to trust him again after breaking
her heart before.
IT HAD TO BE HIM wass was one of those enjoyable reads
that I was truly sorry ended.
Complete with a quirky screw-up of a gal and her antics
and the three
amigos, an octogenarian trio poking their noses into her
business, made
this absolutely delightful. I have never had the pleasure
of reading any of
Tamra Baumann's works before but am very impressed with
her ability to keep
the reader on the edge with the plots and exploits
throughout the read.
IT HAD TO BE HIM is a truly terrific story with genuine
creativity, which I certainly
enjoyed.
Even though Meg Anderson’s hell-raising days are over,
coming home to Anderson Butte isn’t easy, especially when
her impossible-to-please dad is the mayor and her do-
gooder siblings run the place. But with another job lost
and the gorgeous father of her daughter trying to make
contact after disappearing three years ago, a break is
definitely in order. Hopefully the little town filled
with big, juicy secrets can help.
After being off the grid for years, Josh Granger, a man
with his own secrets, wants Meg and his daughter back.
But first he has to get past townspeople as protective as
a pack of rottweilers. He’s not the man Meg thinks he is,
but he can’t tell her why…not yet.
As Meg slowly warms to Josh, it’s clear the old spark is
still there. But when his secret is exposed—along with
Meg’s own shocking revelation—will it tear their family
apart again, or bind them forever?
