Thriller

Bailey Browne and Logan Abbott meet while vacationing on an exotic island. Bailey has just lost her mother and is doing what she can to heal from the loss. Logan has losses of his own, as well. They are quickly drawn to each other and fall deeply in love. When they finally leave their island paradise, it is as husband and wife.

Bailey cannot believe that she finally has a chance of getting her long dreamed of fairytale ending. Logan is everything she ever wanted in a man and more. He takes her home to Abbott Farms, a sprawling country home set on acres of land as far as the eye can see just outside of Wholesome, Louisiana. Their news is met with a mixture of caution and enthusiasm from the horse trainers and a bit of resentment from Logan's sister Raine.

Before long, Bailey learns of women that have gone missing over the past few years in the area. Logan's first wife, True, might or might not be one of them because she is rumored to have simply left him. As Bailey digs deeper into these mysteries, she finds that the little town of Wholesome may not be so aptly named. In addition, she may have just been brought into the middle of a viper's nest as the newest member of the Abbott family.

THE FIRST WIFE offers readers everything they could possibly want in a romantic suspense novel. There is plenty of romance to be enjoyed along with just the right amount of creepiness as the disappearances of the women are linked to the same perpetrator. As always, Erica Spindler takes you by the hand and pulls you relentlessly through her story.

I am a huge fan of Ms. Spindler's work and can safely say that THE FIRST WIFE does not disappoint. She delivers what fans have come to expect from her. I was enthralled from the first page and was compelled to continue reading until I knew how it all turned out. In addition, the final reveal is a total surprise because throughout there has been no shortage of suspects. Just when you think you have figured it all out, you discover that you could not have been more wrong.

If you are a fan of Erica Spindler, THE FIRST WIFE is not to be missed. On the other hand, if you are not familiar with her work, this is a great time to get acquainted with her. You will be happy that you did!

SUMMARY

As a child, Bailey Browne dreamed of a knight in shining armor swooping in to rescue her and her mother. As she grows older, those dreams transform, becoming ones of a mysterious stranger who will sweep her off her feet and whisk her away from her ordinary existence. Then, suddenly, there he is. Despite the ten year difference in their ages, her working class upbringing and his of privilege, Logan Abbott and Bailey fall deeply in love. Marriage quickly follows.

But when Logan brings her home to his horse farm in Louisiana, a magnificent estate on ninety wooded acres, her dreams of happily-ever-after begin to unravel. A tragic family history she knew nothing about surfaces, plus whisperings about the disappearance of his first wife, True, and rumors about the women from the area who have gone missing—and when another woman disappears, all signs point to her husband's involvement.

At first Bailey ignores the whispers, even circumstantial evidence against Logan mounts. But finally, Bailey must make a choice: believe what everyone says—or bet her life on the man she loves, but is realizing she hardly knows.

From the author of Justice for Sara, Erica Spindler's The First Wife is a thrilling new novel that will have you gasping on every page.
