Romance Erotica Sensual

DEEP is Book four in the "Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. As a huge fan of the Stage Dive series, I have been really looking forward to Lizzie & Ben's book. DEEP is an example of the wonderfully layered, character-driven stories I've come to expect from a Kylie Scott book. I recommend reading the previous books in this series before reading DEEP -- not because it can't work as a stand-alone story, but to get a better understanding of the main characters and the group dynamic.

There are so many aspects of DEEP that make a compelling story, in addition to the romance. DEEP explores the themes of family, trust, and female autonomy. The complicated relationship between rock star Ben and psychology student Lizzie plays out amid the trappings and hassles of fame, and the involvement of friends and family. The Stage Dive family -- made up of Ben's bandmates, their significant others, as well as Lizzie's sister -- is such a fabulous assortment of characters. The thing that I really like about DEEP is that, although Ben is a famous musician, the issues that come up in his relationship are ones that could come up in anybody's life.

DEEP is told strictly from Lizzie's POV. Having that perspective helps create an affinity between the reader and that character. I ended up liking Lizzie a little more than I thought I would. Although she's in a difficult, and often emotionally draining, position she owns the decisions she makes. I love that she calls Ben on his nonsense and doesn't let anybody push her around. The sexiness and HEA is there in DEEP but it is very much fought for by the characters.

DEEP is equal parts fiery romance and emotional blowout -- both are equally satisfying. I love these characters and loved seeing old favorites as well as new and interesting ones making appearances. As great as they are, the secondary characters never distract or take anything away from Lizzie and Ben. I eagerly await the next book by Kylie Scott. If you're looking for characters you can fall in love with, good dialogue, and a high heat factor, then DEEP by Kylie Scott is for you.
