Romance Suspense
Jane Spyrus works for B.L.I.S.S. in Vancouver. Her
talents lie in the area of developing gadgets for the
agents around the world that work for B.L.I.S.S. Her
life is busy with her grandmother who is in a wheelchair
and her job.
Life swerves out of control when her her neighbor and
good friend disappears one night after a date. Edie
Andretti is the kind of friend who loans you anything you
need and returns the favor by borrowing whatever she
needs. Jane had just done a presentation of the
B.L.I.S.S. board of some of her newest inventions
including tampons with trackers installed and mini-missile
vibrators. Due to her Gran's caregiver needing to leave,
Jane heads straight home without dropping her prototypes
off in her office.
Edie drops in to borrow something from Jane. Jane, in
need of a shower tells Edie to help herself, forgetting
that her bag fell on the floor spilling its contents all
over. When Jane comes out of the shower, she finds a
note stating that Edie borrowed the tampons.
The next day, Edie's brother, Abel, is knocking on Jane's
door trying to find out why Edie didn't pick him up from
the airport. He's also in dire need of a bathroom. At
first Jane isn't concerned when she hears Edie hasn't
returned from her date. Eventually, Able convinces her
something is wrong. Edie would never forget to pick him
up. That's when Jane remembers the tracker. She opens
her laptop and the tracking software to learn that Edie
is heading south and is already in the US.
Edie, Gran, her nastly little dog, and Abel set off in
Jane's van to find out what is happening with Edie. Able
is understandable concerned about his sister but that
concern is causing him to behave a little recklessly.
Forced to take action, they drug Abel and restrain him.
Eventually they track Edie to California and the three of
them will be start an operation after Gran makes some
calls to B.L.I.S.S. Jane and Abel are forced to hide
their growing attraction as they work together to rescue
Edie and prevent a large corporation from achieving world
domination.
THE LOVING DAYLIGHTS is a re-issue of Ms. Sands book. It
is still a
pleasure to read all the antics that are always found in
a Lynsay Sands story. As I read the book, I found myself
wondering how her brain comes up with these concepts. I
imagine her laughing hysterically as she comes up with
the inventions. It makes me laugh even more. Ms. Sands
is well-known for her humor and THE LOVING DAYLIGHTS is a
perfect example of that.
SUMMARY
Shy Jane Spyrus loves gadgets. She can build anything
B.L.I.S.S. needs in the international organization's fight
against crime—although its agents aren't exactly lining up
at her door. Some of them think her inventions are a
little
too . . . well, innovative. Like her shrink-wrap
prophylactic constraints or her spray-on truth serum. Of course, you can't use wacky inventions to fix all your
problems; Jane knows that better than anyone. Her neighbor
has been kidnapped, driving that point home. She will have
to team up with another human being—and Abel Andretti
arrives just in time. He will help Jane find her neighbor,
stop a villain, and, most of all, he will show Jane how to
love the daylights out of something without batteries.
