In 1836, the town of Gideon burned Nicholas Blaine to
death.
It was a decision that would haunt the town and its
descendants....
Lauren Reardon is grieving the death of her father when
she
discovers a secret- he was once known as Matthew Mullins.
She's determined to find out more about who her father was
and why he used a different name but someone or something
is
shadowing her every move. Will Lauren uncover the secrets
of
her father? And just what will she find in the town of
Gideon?
The events in GIDEON take place during three different
years, starting with 1836. I love how Alex Gordon immerses
us in the dark, lush history of the town of Gideon as we
get
to see just how the curse has affected all of Gideon's
descendants. The town of Gideon feels ancient, even in the
modern setting of 2015 and Alex Gordon does a marvelous
job
at evoking an eerie atmosphere that lingers with and
haunts
the reader.
What an incredible debut novel, as GIDEON is a witch tale
like no other one I've read! The scope of the story allows
the events to unfold naturally as the suspense and horror
build. GIDEON is classic horror at its finest as Alex
Gordon
creates a deliciously creepy atmosphere and populates it
with likable characters- characters you hope against hope
will survive the coming doom that seems to permeate the
very
air of GIDEON. GIDEON is highly recommended for fans of
classic horror and dark, creepy thrillers. I can't wait to
see what Alex Gordon has in store for us in future novels!
Preston & Child meets Kim Harrison in this edge-of-your-
seat debut
thriller—a superb blend of mystery, urban fantasy, horror,
romance,
and the supernatural.
When Lauren’s father dies, she makes a shocking discovery.
The man
she knew as John Reardon was once a completely different
person,
with a different name. Now, she’s determined to find out
who he
really was, even though her only clues are an old
photograph, some
letters, and the name of a town—Gideon.
But someone—or something—doesn’t want her to discover the
truth. A
strange man is stalking her, appearing everywhere she
turns, and
those who try to help her end up dead. Neither a shadowy
enemy nor
her own fear are going to prevent her from solving the
mystery of
her father—and unlocking the secrets of her own life.
Making her way to Gideon, Lauren finds herself more
confused than
ever. Nothing in this small Midwestern town is what it
seems,
including time itself. Residents start going missing, and
Lauren is
threatened by almost every townsperson she encounters. Two
hundred
years ago, a witch was burned at the stake, but in Gideon,
the past
feels all too chillingly present . . .
