This heady historical romance is part of the Secrets in
Silk series set mainly in Scotland. The sisters of the
Sinclair Clan are working furiously to sew ladies'
unmentionables from fine fabrics, hoping to restore the
family fortunes. Most of the ton don't know who makes the
delightful undergarments. Our current story starts in
London.
UNLACED BY THE OUTLAW introduces Miss Margaret Andrews,
unwed after five Seasons. When her young sister Amelia is
abducted by Lord Lisford, who intends to take her to
Gretna
Green to marry her, Margaret can only think of one person
who might help avoid her sister's name being ruined. Cain
Sinclair is not wealthy or nobly born, but he plays a few
hands of cards with the gentlemen and has been a friendly
face at balls. As Sinclair knows the roads north, he is
her
best chance for coming along and stopping the runaways.
Cain takes some persuading, but Margaret feels she has no
chance of marrying so her own name is hardly an issue.
Catastrophe strikes miles from anywhere and the bravery of
the two is all that saves them. Margaret is left in charge
of an injured person and in control of nothing, not even
her own reputation. Her impulsive journey has ended in
social disaster, at the very least. And what of her
sister? There's murder afoot before too long, with the
dangers escalating for Margaret and her strong Highland
champion. Cain gets his hands on some colourful corsets
and Margaret can't stop herself wondering what a Scotsman
wears under his kilt, in this hot-blooded adult romance.
Michelle Willingham writes quality historical love stories
and this may be part of a series but it reads perfectly
well as a standalone. UNLACED BY THE OUTLAW combines some
unlikely ingredients in a romantic fantasy and will keep
you in suspense as one layer of propriety is stripped away
at a time. I always enjoy her work, whether about Vikings
or Scots, and can't wait to see where she takes us next.
When straitlaced spinster Margaret Andrews tries to stop
her headstrong younger sister Amelia from eloping with
the wrong man, the last thing she expects is to be caught
in a coach accident. Stranded in Scotland with a
dangerously handsome Highlander, she must put aside her
genteel sensibilities and learn to survive.
Cain Sinclair rescues the prim and proper Margaret, but
he knows she’ll never want a man like him. As a self-
proclaimed sinner, he lives his life from one day to the
next. He unravels every thread of decorum she possesses,
tempting her to throw away propriety.
Margaret sees a man worth saving, but Cain fights her
efforts to reform him. When Cain risks everything to save
his brother from the hangman's noose, Margaret must break
all the rules to get him back…or lose him forever.
