What would you do if you discovered you were the
illegitimate daughter of a Mega-Millionaire who died
leaving
his entire fortune to you? That is the dilemma Savannah
Morgan faces after receiving this news in a telephone call
from a NY attorney. Edward Stone, Founder, CEO and
Chairman of the Stone News Corporation, leaves his entire
estate to Savannah but there are several restrictions
attached to this media mogul's legacy. She must live in
New
York, work at the Stone News Corporation and not be
allowed
to leave the State for any extended periods.
Savannah moves to the lovely Manhattan apartment owned by
her father on the upper west side. She begins her job at
Femme Magazine, as Editorial Assistant .She is enjoying a
relationship with Alex Adair, aspiring writer, handsome
hunk
who wears Acqua Di Gio, and lives on Staten Island. She
is
also trying to mend the relationships with her step
brother,
Ned, and step sister, Caroline, who also work at Stone
News
Corporation, but want no part of Savannah who is the sole
heir.
Savannah has some questions about the mysterious death of
her father.
Stone was killed in a car accident that was determined to
have been caused by a drunk driver.
Halstead Simms, the driver, a Brooklyn resident, died
shortly of alcohol poisoning.
Unable to ignore the questions and scandal surrounding her
father's death, and not happy with the police report or
the
report from the PI that Ned hired she decides to
investigate
herself.
Her inquiries lead her to Washington, DC, where she meets
and becomes romantically involved with Wesley Caldwell.
Wes is the son of Senator Carys Caldwell, who gave up her
seat after allegedly having an extramarital affair with
Edward Stone. Her quest for answers continue and a
smashing, surprising conclusion is established.
I was unaware that INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY was the second
in
a series by author Lorraine Zago Rosenthal. NEW MONEY
introduces the character of Savannah and tells us how she
came into her fortune. I wish I had read that book first.
It would answer many of the questions that I have about
Savannah's previous family and background. The cast of
characters in INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY, although interesting
are sometimes unrealistic. The ending left so much
unanswered. With both romantic interests on hold and
finding her outline for a novel she wants to someday
complete, it is obvious to me that book three is a coming
attraction.
In the sequel to New Money, Savannah Morgan delves into
the
mystery of her late media-mogul father's death and
uncovers
more than she ever expected.
In New Money, Savannah Morgan was thrust into high-society
New York when she learned she was the sole heir to her
father's billion-dollar fortune. In Independently Wealthy,
she is living her dream life on the Upper West Side,
excelling at her job as an editorial assistant, and
enjoying
her handsome new boyfriend, Alex.
Everything in Savannah's life should be perfect--but she
can't ignore the questions and scandal surrounding her
father's fatal accident. Her hopes of solving this mystery
are shared by Caroline Stone--her new found sister who is
slowly becoming a friend.
Savannah decides to investigate, although not everyone
wants
her to discover the truth. Her domineering older brother,
Ned, has his own problems, including a lingering regret
over
his recent divorce, the constant pressure of running the
Stone media empire, and managing a playboy bachelorhood.
As Savannah's quest for justice becomes complicated and
dangerous, she is led to Washington, D.C., an alluring
stranger, and more surprises, trouble, and changes than
she
ever could have imagined.
