Daniel Hiddleston, nicknamed Mud, is a superstar
Australian rugby player, but during the off-season he is
restless. All the overabundance of energy, testosterone
and adrenaline usually expended during the season has to
be dealt with when not playing; in Mud's case, sex is
where he finds his release. Mud is a big, wild beast at
work and at play, and that's why his long-time girlfriend
Jorja Jones loves him so much. But recently, Mud is
looking preoccupied and it's beginning to worry Jorja;
she knows women throw themselves at her boyfriend all the
time; he seems to only have eyes for her, but still she
is beginning to wonder if she's good enough for him, or
if he's thinking of ending their relationship after 6
years.
JORJA is the fifth instalment in the Secret
Confessions: Sydney Housewives series, the life of
filthy rich rugby players and their beautiful significant
others. Surprisingly enough even though JORJA is the
first book of the series I have read so far, I felt
perfectly comfortable in the world of Australian rugby
WAGs -- wives and girlfriends. JORJA is an erotic short
story, and within the confines of the genre, Ms. Couper
does an admirable job at describing the world of the
wealthy Sydney Housewives, as well as providing very
thorough character development. Jorja Jones, or JJ, is a
great character: she knows what she wants, she is not
afraid to speak her mind, but still she is wary of
discussing her preoccupations with WAGs, whom most are
merely friendly acquaintances. I love Mud, the mighty king
of the rugby jungle, who is really a pussycat at heart; he
will go to any lengths to please his beloved Jorja.
JORJA is very well written, unapologetically Australian
which contributes to its charm, and is an extremely quick
read, not only because it's short but because it's so
good and so entertaining. JORJA starts without preamble:
we plunge right into the passionate sex life of Jorja and
Mud, which is of course very steamy. But then Ms. Couper
springs a few surprises on us as Jorja and Mud face an
existential crisis. Yes, in so few pages, JORJA is a
complete story: I truly cared for the characters and what
happened to them. And I just loved the ending! I am very
much looking forward to the rest of the Secret
Confessions: Sydney Housewives series. Very
impressive!
