JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is Book three in Lisa Marie Perry's Blue Dynasty series. Even though this is the first book I've read by Lisa Marie Perry, and JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is part of a series, I had no trouble following the story or enjoying it. However, after reading this book, I am interested in reading the previous two books since they focus on characters that appear in this story.

For me, a big reason that JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is such a great story is the main character - Martha Blue. I love Martha. With Martha Blue, Lisa Marie Perry creates a complex character and an extremely strong woman. I love that she always sticks up for herself and her wise- cracking reminds me of the tough female characters in films from the 1930s and 40s. I like the way she handles her parents. Her mother and father are powerful public figures, strong personalities, and incredibly into each other, but the way they treat their children - and Martha in particular - leaves something to be desired. I like that Martha manages to mentally outmaneuver her parents without seeming whiney or petty. Her hidden vulnerabilities, especially when it comes to Joaquin, make her very real and easy to relate to.

The romance between Martha and celebrity prizefighter Joaquin Ryder is complicated and extremely hot. There is a wonderful sensuality and eroticism in the romance between Martha and Joaquin to go along with the solid story- telling. There is enough background information given about their prior relationship without having the entire book bogged down by the past. Giving the main characters a history makes JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT a richer and more textured story.

JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is super sexy romance with an incredible multifaceted heroine. I liked the subplot involving Avery and it is an interesting addition to the main storyline without distracting from it. I look forward to reading future books by Lisa Marie Perry. Even if you're not normally into sports-themed romances, the characters in JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT are worth the read.

SUMMARY

A red-hot holiday

Pro football publicist Martha Blue has something to prove. To protect the image of the Las Vegas Slayers—and stay employed—she has to shed her party-girl reputation. Fast! So no more mistakes. No further scandals. And absolutely no falling for the one man who can give her everything she wants…and nothing of what she needs.

Danger and desire never mixed well for undefeated prizefighter Joaquin Ryder. A friend of the Blue family, he's a man who knows his boundaries…boundaries he has secretly crossed only once before. Now that he's back in Sin City to train for the biggest fight of his career, he can't afford to let a sexy distraction like Martha put him against the ropes. Revisiting their sizzling past is something he isn't willing to risk—until a steamy Yuletide encounter, where for just one night, they'll surrender completely….
