Aidan Mitchell has just taken a coaching job at the high school in Chesapeake Shores following his retirement as a professional quarterback after an injury. The first person he meets at Dogwood Hill is Elizabeth March, also fairly new to town, who owns Pet Style shop on Main Street. An avid pet lover, Liz has a history of taking in strays until finding good homes elsewhere. Liz gathered Aidan had things he wasn't revealing in his story but understood his reluctance as she certainly carried plenty demons of her own. Aidan also makes Liz's toes curl!

The beautiful town overlooking Chesapeake Bay was built by three of the O'Brien decedents, Mick, Jeff and Thomas. The latter brother who Aidan believes is his biological father; hence the reason for accepting the coaching position. Raised solely by his mother, Anna, he was only told his father was a good man but not ready for fatherhood or to settle down as he had high expectations of life and kept her pregnancy a secret. When Anna passed, Aidan found his birth certificate revealing Thomas's name as his father. While trying to decide if he wanted to reveal this information, Aiden becomes very involved with Liz and learns of her non- trusting issues left from her previous marriage and ex's death. Astounded by the close-knit and loving O'Brien family, Aidan needs to work through his plans concerning his new family while convincing Liz his feelings and trustworthiness are genuine still unable to reveal the secret she knows he is hiding.

True to form Sherryl Woods has out done herself yet again. This installment in the CHESAPEAKE SHORES series is just as captivating and challenging as the others. She writes with emotion about a small-town with penchants for friendships, loving family and honorable characters. She weaves a touching tale of two people searching for fulfillment and finding that everlasting someone special. Her stories are always emotional and will definitely leave the reader with a good heart-warming feeling of satisfaction.
