Romance Suspense

Detective Chris Ford is one of the best and brightest of the Sugarland P.D., but lately he's been struggling with a mysterious illness that has left him weak and shaky. Despite the symptoms or because of them he meets up with a gorgeous woman and her little girl and before long he has her IN HIS SIGHTS.

Robyn Lassiter is a doctor, with a little girl and some baggage that she is afraid will forever be around her neck. But the handsome devil of a police detective does have her thinking that it just might be time to let go.

On top of the attraction there is some weirdness going on; apparent heart attacks of people who don't appear to have had heart trouble, burglaries where nothing is taken. Do these events have anything to do with one another or is it coincidence. Chris doesn't believe in coincidence neither does Robyn and as they struggle to get to know each other and work together, they might be doing more then risking their hearts. It could be their very lives on the line.

I must say that I slid right into IN HIS SIGHTS without a misstep and felt as if I've known these people for years. I loved Detective Chris Ford, thought Dr. Robyn Lassiter amazing and found little Maddy adorable. All the characters in this book seemed real and people you would want to be friends and neighbors with. Well except for the bad guy but that comes later.

The way author Jo Davis introduces everyone involved in the storyline with the perfect touches and hints to the danger they all face had me unable to stop reading. The pace is swift and engrossing; the romance is romantic with just the right amount of tension to add spice, and when the love word finally came out it was a hallelujah moment for me. This is the first of author Ms. Davis' Sugarland Blue novels I have read so I have some catching up to do and I can't wait to do that and see more from her.

SUMMARY

Chris is one the best and brightest at the Sugarland PD, but lately a mysterious illness has him struggling to get through the day. When his symptoms land him in the care of brilliant and sexy Dr. Robyn Lassiter, Chris realizes that he is the latest victim in a rash of mysterious poisonings in the area—most of them fatal. Figuring out who’s causing the fatal outbreak has become a very personal—and deadly—race against time.

Despite battling her own personal demons and painful past, Dr. Robyn Lassiter can’t fight her attraction to her new patient. But as she struggles to help Chris track down the sick mind behind the deaths, she’s not only at risk of losing her heart but of falling headlong into a lethal plot that could take her life.
