New Adult | Romance Contemporary

Book five in the Marked Men series, ROWDY explores the wilder side to the St. James men. True to his nickname, Rowdy St. James doesn't take life too seriously yet that doesn't mean he hasn't once loved before. As that relationship came to a burning end, Rowdy aims to keep things as casual as can be when it comes to other women. But he doesn't count on someone from his past to return and make a lasting impression.

Salem Cruz seems to be the exact opposite to Rowdy. Drivento by rules, she comes across as a sweet girl who looks up Rowdy. But it isn't only admiration that draws her to him, it's attraction.

I love books that have the hero falling hard for the heroine and this is one of those books. Rowdy and Salem begin a journey from friendship to lovers in a way that rings as original and believable, which I think is often difficult to do. As Crownover explores more of their past, it makes for the perfect path into the building of their relationship. Down to its basics, ROWDY is a really sweet friends-to-lovers story.

I've also come to really enjoy Crownover's writing style. It never comes across as too forced; all the emotion, humor and passion comes naturally and while that can come across as understated to a lot of readers, it's worthy to be noted. Crownover continues to deliver well-written New Adult stories.

SUMMARY

After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol' boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn't going to let himself trust a woman again. But that's before his new coworker arrives, a ghost from the past who's suddenly making him question every lesson he's ever learned. Salem Cruz grew up in a house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn't wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her: the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who'd been head over heels in love with her little sister. Now fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.
