What could be better than a seasonal story by Robyn Carr
-- well how about three. In TIS THE SEASON Robyn Carr
treats us to three stories that would be great for any
season. Stories about family and love -- timeless and
season less. Each of these stories is making a repeat
performance reissued in this compilation of heartwarming
stories that remind us why Robyn Carr has garnered so
many fans and awards. Carr's town of Virgin River is at
the center of these stories and we are so delighted to
return for a holiday visit.
For Annie McKenzie in UNDER THE CHRISTMAS TREE (2009) it
all starts with a holiday detour through Virgin River
especially to see Jack Sheridan and stop by his bar and
grill. There was a surprise hidden under Jack's Christmas
tree -- a box of new born puppies who luckily were
discovered by an adventurist little boy. Everyone stepped
in to save these pups that were doomed to freeze without
these good people. Annie had loads of experience with
animals as a farm girl but these puppies needed some
expert help.
Enter vet Nate Jenson -- old Doc Jenson's son -- not at
all
who Annie was expecting. And Annie was equally unhappy at
Nate's helpful suggestion to bring these pups to the
local shelter. They were too young and weak and needed
lots of love and care. This certainly wasn't on anyone's
list to do over the holiday but Annie had a plan. She
revamped her days to include time with the pups but it
turned out as a partnership with Dr. Nate himself.
Nate was only available until he left on vacation with
some old friends. As time went by Annie and Nate found
their time together special. Annie was a realist. Once
betrayed actually blindsided that left her wary in this
relationship with Nate who could get any woman he wanted.
Why her? And Nate just couldn't scale the brick wall
surrounding Annie's heart.
It's New Year's Eve in Virgin River in MIDNIGHT
CONFESSION (2010) with Sunny Archer visiting her Uncle
Nate and his fiancé Annie. They were doing their best to
help Sunny get over being left at the altar at her New
Year's Eve wedding.
Sunny had spent lots of vacations at the Jensen ranch and
her family agreed this visit to a place filled with good
memories would help.
Sunny was actually a memory maker as a photographer at
special occasions and events. She spent most weekends
photographing other people's weddings. The irony was not
lost on her.
Drew Foley was also in Virgin River but his goal was to
capture some quiet time to catch up on studies for his
exams. But first he decided he deserved a New Year's Eve
beer at Jack's bar. Once Drew saw Sunny he was on a
mission.
The more Sunny spurned Drew's attempts to attract her
attention and spend time together the more driven he was
to convince her that they had a chance for a future
together.
And finally we are treated to BACKWARD GLANCE (1991)
starring the most amazing cast of characters who will
capture your heart. Jess Wainscott's daughter Leigh was
coming home after several years. Jess wanted Leigh back
where she needed to be and Jess was not averse to using a
little lie to get that done. So with the ruse of some
health issue and of course with the best intention Leigh
and her twin boys were expected any day. In the meantime
Jess was busy working on an idea she had to fix up some
things around her house and to do that she needed John
McElroy. Actually Jess needed John to fix Leigh as well.
Leigh is a genius but her life has been relatively void
of passion. John fits that bill. They have an interesting
albeit short history but their connection is strong.
Could opposites not only attract but actually have a
chance to build something really great together?
TIS THE SEASON is a wonderful entry to the holiday list
of must reads. Of course anything by Robyn Carr has its
share of magic and love. The three stories in TIS THE
SEASON are notably revisits for some and brand new for
others. Robyn Carr is a star and she shines bright as the
North Star in this lovely book of holiday stories.
