I have fallen completely in love with Ann Aguirre's new
adult series! Even though these characters are young enough
to be my children (sigh), Ms. Aguirre uses them to address
universal themes to which we can all relate. I know what
it's like to struggle with uncertainty, fear, and self-doubt
in regards to myself and my relationships. I absolutely
enjoyed watching Lauren and Rob, the main characters of AS
LONG OF YOU LOVE ME, as they triumphed over their personal
demons to embrace their happy ever after.
Following the events of the first book in the series, I
Want It That Way, Lauren Barrett has returned to Sharon,
Nebraska. Though embarrassed that she's back living with her
mom after flunking out of college, she's happy to be back
home. She loves her familiar small-town life. It also helps
that she's now in close proximity to Rob Conrad, her best
friend's brother and the boy she's had a crush on for as
long as she can remember. Unfortunately, Rob is dating
Avery and still sees Lauren as a second sister... or does he?
A former high school football star, Rob is frustrated by how
others view him as physically strong but not particularly
smart, definitely not as smart as his sister. When Lauren
returns to town, he is drawn to her unfailing belief in all
he has to offer the world. But, she's his sister's best
friend and doesn't see him as boyfriend material. When Rob
and Lauren start to see that there is more than friendship
between them, their lives begin to change in unexpected and
exciting ways.
Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but
after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. She
has her reasons—missing her family, losing her college
scholarship. But then there's the reason Lauren can't admit
to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend's older brother.
Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star
in high school. Out in the real world, his job and his
relationships are going nowhere. He's the guy who women love
and leave, not the one who makes them think of forever—until
Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new
dreams with her.
Because the only thing more important than figuring out
where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant
to be with.
