Fantasy
Wormwood has arrived... but will it be what the travelers
have
expected?
A wide range of travelers have battled through various
adversities to reach the opening to the afterlife, the
almost mythical Wormwood. Elwyn Wallace, Rodney
Quartershaft, Soldier Joe, Hope Lane, and the Brotherhood
of
Ruth are just a few of the travelers who now find
themselves
face to face with a town appearing out of nowhere. What
will the travelers find when they enter Wormwood? And
what
will Elwyn and his mysterious gunslinger companion find
when
they try to enter Wormwood through a less direct route?
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HELL is the second book in Guy Adams''
Heaven's Gate series. Guy Adams introduces us to a
plethora of characters in the first book, The Good, the
Bad, the Infernal , where he fleshes the characters
out
quite nicely. ONCE UPON A TIME IN HELL jumps more into the
actual action of the series and I would suggest reading
the
books in order so that the motivations and sacrifices of
the
characters can be fully appreciated.
Elwyn is a likable character and Guy Adams does a
marvelous
job at making him a kind of "everyman". The setting itself
is a western unlike any you've ever read as ONCE UPON A
TIME
IN HELL is as creepy and disturbing as one would expect
from
a novel describing hell. Guy Adams points out the allure
of
Wormwood even in the midst of the absolute horrors that
Elwyn faces.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HELL is a well-written western horror
tale. Readers looking for something unique, edgy, and
twisted will appreciate the surprises that Guy Adams has
in
store for the reader. I can't wait to see how this series
ends!
SUMMARY
A weird western, a gun-toting, cigarrillo-chewing fantasy
built from hangman’s rope and spent bullets. The west has
never been wilder. A Steampunk-Western-Fantasy from Guy
Adams. "Heaven? Hell? There's no difference. Angels, demons,
we're
all a bit of both. This could be the most wondrous place
you
ever experience or so terrifying it makes you pray for
death. Not that death would help you of course, there's no
escape from here…" Wormwood has appeared and for twenty four hours the
gateway
to the afterlife is wide open. But just because a door is
open doesn't mean you should step through it… Those who have traveled to reach the town are realising
that
the challenges they've already faced were nothing compared
to what lies ahead. The afterlife has an agenda of its own
and with scheming on both sides of reality, the
revelations
to come may change the world forever.
