I know that without a doubt there are tons of fans of J.D.
Robb, and that when a new book is available they are
without question eagerly at the door of their local
bookstore, or eyeing their electronic reader eagerly
anticipating getting their hands on what J.D. Robb has to
offer next. I am one of those, and am never disappointed
with whatever plotline Robb has come up with.
FESTIVE IN DEATH is certainly no exception to that rule.
Who amongst us hasn't thought that exercising would be the
death of us? Well, in FESTIVE IN DEATH that old saying
takes on a meaning that no one expects. The victim is
none other than personal trainer Trey Ziegler...was it the
excessive exercise that killed him, or was it something or
someone more malicious?
Eve and Roarke are in the process of getting ready for a
party at their home, but as usual business must come first
for Eve, and solving the murder of Trey is her business.
As Eve and Peabody set out to determine the who and why of
Trey's death the path leads them to homes of other wealthy
people in the city. Is one of them responsible for the
death? If so why? Was Trey really the great personal
trainer that people thought he was or is he using his
power and influence for something more?
I found FESTIVE IN DEATH to be an intriguing read. I
learned about the personal trainer business which is
something that I know people use, but which I have no
personal experience. I still miss that Eve doesn't seem
to be as needy with some of the secondary characters that
I've come to know and love such as Nadine, and Mavis, but
instead of that neediness Eve is becoming more comfortable
in her skin and her own abilities, and we see a more
mature version of Eve coming out.
With the maturity of Eve and the lessening of some
secondary characters are we seeing a winding down to a
long and much loved series? I don't know, only J.D. Robb
probably knows the answer to that question. Are we are
fans of Eve and Roarke ready to wind down the series?
Maybe some are, but as to me I'm not there yet...I've
cried
over Eve's challenges, and rooted for her when she
overcomes those same challenges, and am liking the new Eve
that I see. With that being said...I will be eagerly
anticipating the next book in the series.
