Suspense

When a Viking rune stone is stolen from a Swedish museum by murderous thieves, the husband and wife team of archaeologist Nina Wilde and ex-SAS soldier Eddie Chase are called in to investigate. They're told the stone is one of two that hold the key to revealing the location of Valhalla, Norse mythology's holiest site, as well as leading them to the final source of eitr, a poisonous evil that could alter the fate of the world.

With the assistance of others intent on helping Nina and Eddie locate the legendary Valhalla before the rival powers do, it's a race to the death for both factions. Then ghosts and secrets from Eddie's past rear their ugly heads, forcing him to recall a dark chapter in his life; one he's vowed to keep hidden from everyone. Will those secrets prove fatal for the completion of this mission? Will Nina, Eddie and their team defeat the bad guys and prevail in averting the unleashing of the ancient terror?

Andy McDermott's THE VALHALLA PROPHECY is the ninth Nina Wilde/Eddie Chase escapade as they crisscross the globe in a quest to ascertain archaeological myths and artifacts. It's an action-adventure thriller rife with long sequences of superhuman feats by the two groups (good and evil) determined to locate the mythological site of Valhalla and the last source of the environment-altering eitr. If you're a fan of action-adventure page-turners, McDermott is a master storyteller of the genre, as THE VALHALLA PROPHECY definitely confirms.

SUMMARY

For fans of James Rollins and Matthew Reilly comes the new heart-stopping, globe-spanning adventure in Andy McDermott's explosive series featuring American archaeologist Nina Wilde and ex-SAS bodyguard Eddie Chase. MYSTERIOUS RUNE STONES. AN ANCIENT VIKING MYTH. AND A PROPHECY OF LIFE OR DEATH. In a Stockholm museum, thieves steal an enormous Norse rune stone, but not before killing a security guard. When Nina Wilde, head of the International Heritage Agency (IHA), and her husband, ex-mercenary Eddie Chase, arrive to investigate, they are told a chilling story: A scholar has discovered that the stone may be one of two keys to finding the mythological site of Valhalla, where the Vikings predicted the world's final battle would begin. The second lies at the bottom of a Norwegian lake. But when Nina and Eddie race to the scene, they're hit with a shocking surprise. Covert agents from around the world are drawn into a lethal game, including a ruthless mole in the IHA. Then a disturbing secret surfaces from Eddie's past, involving a mission in Vietnam and a woman he tried to save. Suddenly suspicious of her own husband, Nina cannot afford to stop the perilous search for the artifact. For somewhere in a remote wilderness, two forces are about to converge: one that could save the world…and one that could destroy it.
