"Pack life with a twist"

Fresh Fiction Review

The Mating Game

Romance Paranormal

Theresa Sanchez has her hands full trying to raise her little daughter as a single Mom, but add Pack politics and things go haywire. She really only wants to finally get with her best friend Zach, not get involved with who's going to be top dog. But when she comes in heat and having proven she is fertile, the Alpha demands that she pick the next leader and so goes THE MATING GAME.

The Iron Stone Pack Alpha has decided he wants to retire and wants Zachary Hunter to take his spot, but the Alpha's second Robert Blane is determined to ascend as Alpha. Here's the biggest problem ... neither of them wants to fight the other for the spot. They are good friends.

With both of the virile males craving to be with her how is she to choose? Her wolf wants both of them. Zach has waited a long time for Theresa and if he has to kill his best friend to have her he will. With enemies everywhere Zach, Robert and Theresa will have to fight for the pack and a future.

THE MATING GAME is an intriguing twist on pack life. This pack had lost its magic and it is hoped that a new leader with a fertile mate will help bring it back. Author Melissa Snark brings you attention catching characters (some you will like others you will root against with no problem) with a flow of descriptive prose that makes you feel right there with them. I enjoyed the friendship between Theresa and Zach, the way they steam across the pages and of course his British accent. Isabel her little daughter is adorable with her fairy friends and the way she seemed to have Zach wrapped around her little fingers. Though I tried, Robert didn't quite fit the bill as a member of the threesome, he seemed more like a buddy than a mate. The connection just wasn't there for me. I would also like to note that there is a slight tone of bigotry in this book that might be a little jarring for someone who just wants to read a sexy, paranormal romance. I am a first time reader of this author and I plan to see what else Ms. Snark has to offer.

SUMMARY

Two males…two friends…a competition for the right to claim The Heart of the Iron Stone Pack.

An alpha female at her core, Theresa Sanchez struggles to protect her young daughter, but rivalries and politics create volatility in the pack. As Theresa comes into heat, lust and need rule her body. Her pack demands only the most virile male have her. How can she choose only one mate when her body craves two—the virile beta and the man she loves?

Zachary Hunter will do anything to take Theresa as his mate, even if it means killing his best friend. However, Robert Blane is just as determined to ascend to Alpha. Both their beasts howl to mark her flesh, but only one can survive to claim her.

But with enemies circling, they must fight…for the pack, for Theresa, and for a future together.

Re: Pack life with a twist

Hi Annetta,
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to review The Mating Game. I very much appreciate the opportunity to share my story with your readers. I knew I was taking a risk addressing a social issue such as racism in a paranormal novel. I'm sorry you perceived a tone of bigotry in the story.

(Hit return too soon...)

It was my intent for the story to advocate social justice and equality...not the opposite. I do apologize if I failed and you or anyone else were offended.
