Private investigator Brenna Spector can never forget
anything....literally. She has a condition known as
Hyperthymestic Syndrome, which means that she has the
perfect memory. It can come in handy when working on a
missing person case, but it can also work as a huge
distraction. Something as simple as a smell or a sound can
send her plummeting back in time to a particular memory.
Then she can become lost in that moment as if it were the
present. It is a constant battle for her to live with such a
disorder.
STAY WITH ME is author Alison Gaylin's latest entry in her
Brenna Spector series and it is a wild ride from
beginning
to end. It begins when Maya, Brenna's 13 year old daughter,
disappears. Desperate to find her, Brenna, her ex-husband
Jim and his wife, Faith, and Brenna's new friend Detective
Nick Morasco bond together in doing everything they can to
find Maya.
In the process, Brenna discovers that Maya has been keeping
some secrets that may have been part of the reason that she
vanished. As more and more secrets are revealed, Brenna
prays that she is not too late to save her daughter. But as
startling as these secrets are, there is one more waiting
for her at the end that she never saw coming.
STAY WITH ME is one of the most riveting books I have ever
had the pleasure of reading. Brenna Spector is a character
that will stay with you long after you have reached the end
of that final page. Even though Alison Gaylin does not have
that nasty habit of leaving her readers hanging with
unanswered questions, I still wanted more because reading
one of these books is almost like being a part of Brenna's
family.
As a side note here, Brenna's assistant, Trent, is one of
the most engaging and unique characters I have ever found in
any book. He certainly deserves honorable mention. There are
so many things that he adds to the overall plot of this
series that I kept finding myself just wanting to hang out
with him.
Alison Gaylin and Brenna Spector are addictions of the best
kind. I have only just finished reading STAY WITH ME and I
already miss those characters. Think about the last time
that you read a book that you simply wanted to go on and on.
Then you will understand STAY WITH ME. You can probably read
it even if you have not read the first two books in the
series, but why would you want to do yourself such an
injustice? Give yourself a real treat and read them all!
