New Adult

After a terrible incident that left scars on Olivia's body and soul, she decides to go to a college in Charleston instead of her originally planned Columbia. At least there with all the beauty in the nature, people won't give her pitying looks. She hopes for some time to heal with the help of a new therapist and some family distance, but what she doesn't expect is a man named Preston, her roommate's best friend, to come into the picture. Their chemistry is electric, but neither is ready for a relationship...or so they say. The two will both have to overcome their past if they want any chance together now.

Overflowing with real emotion, crushing memories, and hopeful moments, PIECES OF OLIVIA is a new adult romance that captures your heart from the first chapter and doesn't give it back. Olivia is such a memorable and realistic main character whose trying to find herself again, or maybe even for the first time, after a tragic accident changes her world. Her courageous attempts to rebuild herself with a little help from her friends is so touching, and she displays both a strength and vulnerability that make you want to give her a thumbs up and a chocolate cake. Though Preston definitely contributes to her growing strength, as well as she to his, there is incredible beauty in her journey of finding the strength to continue in life in herself.

Preston is a heart-warming and sexy love interest, and I have so much love for what's left a mark on him from his past. I haven't seen that particular issue from the male perspective brought up in a New Adult before (that I've read), and it's so refreshing and just makes your heart melt. The secondary characters, especially Kara, flow well with the story, and I can't wait to see more of them.

For any fans of romance, New Adult reads, and books about overcoming grief, PIECES OF OLIVIA is a wonderful book to grab. I've read Melissa West's Young Adult books and loved them, and she once again shows off her talent with this new and different story. I absolutely love it, and I'm so eager for the next installment!

SUMMARY

Olivia Warren used to be a normal girl with a bright future. But on one fated night, everything changed.

Hiding the scars of her past up her sleeves, Olivia transfers her enrollment from Columbia University to The College of Charleston, determined to pursue her own dreams for the first time in her life.

She intends to allow herself a bit of alone time to heal... that is, until she meets Preston.

Preston is best friends with her roommate, completely hot, and off-limits. But the chemistry between them is instantaneous—and as the pair begins to spend more time with one another, their feelings for each other build into something undeniable, something powerful enough to heal Olivia’s deepest scars.

Olivia tries to put her own past behind her and trust Preston, but she discovers that his past might be more present than she ever bargained for…
