Olivia Holladay is running for her life and only wants a
safe place to call home. When she realizes the Duke of
Marwick might have the key to her freedom, she decides to
disguise herself as his new housekeeper, and soon realizes
her fate and the duke's are tied together in more ways than
one.
FOOL ME TWICE is a passionate story, similar to Beauty and
the Beast, with romance and secrets. Olivia is a heroine who
doesn't care what others think of her and doesn't back down
from a challenge. The need to deceive Alastair doesn't sit
well with her, but her need to be safe causes her to
continue with the deception. Her story will have readers
hoping she'll get her happy ending. Alastair is nursing his
wounded pride and trying to figure out what kind of person
he really is, when he meets Olivia. He grows throughout the
story, becoming a determined and intimidating duke, and
becomes an appealing hero, and a completely different man
than the one Olivia originally meets.
Alastair's servants are comical and give FOOL ME TWICE some
much needed humor. Meredith Duran writes an unexpected twist
at the end, and readers may find themselves empathizing a
bit with the antagonist. FOOL ME TWICE brings together two
characters with the need for revenge, and Duran expertly
turns this revenge into an enjoyable love story.
