Charlotte is an Oracle, a person who sees the future. The
bad part is that she is never supposed to interfere with
what she sees, so she and the rest of the Oracles constantly
fight off their visions even though it causes them pain.
When Charlotte gets a vision she can't fight off about a
classmate being murdered, she starts to question why she
can't stop the tragedy starting to happen around her. When a
mysterious man named Smith who seems to know about Oracles
wants to help, Charlotte will be forced to trust him if she
ever wants to stop the killer.
As a huge fan of Aprilynne Pike's books, I was so excited to
see what she would do with oracles and murders. In SLEEP NO
MORE , Pike provides an incredible psychological thriller
mixed with the supernatural. I completely adore Charlotte
with her strong heart. The way her visions work are so
fascinating, and the supernatural world surrounding the
normal world Pike creates is stunning. What I love most is
that while Charlotte battles the future and her powers, her
deepest struggles are within herself. She has to decide what
she will stand for and who she will stand against and what
dreams she may have to sacrifice for the betterment of the
future. Her fight is all too realistic and at times, her
growth is just plain beautiful to read.
The love interest, Linden, is so completely adorable and
tragic at the same time what with all the killing going on
around them. There are moments that will nearly rip your
heart out, and as necessary as they are, it's still a hard
task to fight off tears. I am desperately in need of the
sequel just so I can admire the sheer strength some of the
characters have developed just by going through what they
do.
Filled with jaw-dropping twists and turns, SLEEP NO MORE is
a book you don't want to miss. Aprilynne Pike has written
another stellar novel of oracles, love of all sorts, and the
ultimate challenge of finding your own moral stance.
Oracles see the future. But they are never supposed to
interfere. Charlotte learned that the hard way. If she
hadn't tried to change one of her childhood visions, her
mother wouldn't be in a wheelchair—and her father would
still be alive.
Since that fateful accident, Charlotte has tried to suppress
her visions. But when she receives a premonition of a
classmate's murder, she knows she can no longer sit idly by.
Then she meets Smith, a man who not only knows Charlotte's
secret but who also claims to have a way for her to
manipulate her visions to change the future. But doing this
means Charlotte must put herself in the path of the
murderer.
