Young Adult Science Fiction

Is this really the end for Will and Elliot?

Despite their best efforts to prevent the Styx from releasing the Armagi, Will, Elliot, and their friends failed to protect England from the invasion. Will and Elliot are trapped below ground with little hope of returning home. Chester and Stephanie are trapped above ground with the Armagi. England has been cut off from the world and no one is going to help them. Can this divided group save Earth before it is too late?

TERMINAL by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams is the intense conclusion to the Tunnels series. I love this series. I love this book. There are just a few character arcs that I wish had gone differently. That's because I'm a happily-ever-after sort, and TERMINAL is definitely not a happily-ever-after ending to a fantastic series. I love this at the same time I'm saddened by what happens. All the books in the Tunnels series have explored dark needs and motivations, but TERMINAL pushes this even further. With very little hope left, some characters are driven by anger, despair, and even hatred to do things they can't come back from. That's not to say there's no hope. It's this truthful representation of how people react during times of crises that make TERMINAL and the Tunnels series truly intriguing. People do bad things, but they're also capable of doing extraordinary, selfless acts that continue to inspire, and authors Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams explore both sides of humanity.

TERMINAL by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams is a fantastic conclusion to the Tunnels series. For those new to the series, start with book one, Tunnels. This is not a series that should be read out of order. The plot is intricate and told through many different viewpoints. It would be difficult to keep all the characters and their motivations straight, not to mention all they'd done in the previous five books, if you read out of order. The conclusion to TERMINAL will stay with you long after you finished the novel. It is that heart-wrenching and satisfying.

SUMMARY

The end to end all ends: The epic finale to the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling TUNNELS series!

Total Termination of the English: The Styx and their lethal cohorts of Armagi will settle for nothing less. Not even the mighty US military is strong enough to stop the assault!

Will and Elliott flee back underground, down to the innards of the Earth first mapped in DEEPER and FREEFALL. With the support of a small team that survived the plague of New Germania, they discover a secret at the site of the three core pyramids. A secret that may explain not only where the Styx came from, but the human race, too. Can Elliott, with her mixed blood, unlock the clues before Earth itself spins out of orbit?

All the many threads of the prior TUNNELS books come together in this epic conclusion!
