A very suspenseful story that left me in shock throughout
the whole book is
how I would describe the novel CRUISE written by Suzanne
Vermeer. It was full of
surprises that I did not see coming. How I love reading a
book whose events I
could not see unfold throughout the journey of the main
character Heleen!
Vermeer's creativity really fed my mind's sense for suspense
like no other.
The story starts out with Helen van Rijnsburg having all the
love one woman
could for her husband, Frank who traveled frequently for his
job. Living in the
Netherlands, their marriage was a happy one and he made good
money that
provided a decent lifestyle. Though they did not and could
not have children they
learned to adapt to that loss living a fulfilling life.
Then one day for an
anniversary gift Frank proposed a Mediterranean Sea cruise
vacation. After
selling the idea to Heleen they take off on the ship
Columbus to what was
supposed to be a romantic trip. Things are perfect until
overnight Frank does not
come back from a walk. What had happened to him? How can a
person end up
missing on a ship out in the sea? Did he fall over? Over
weeks and months of
wondering and thinking the worst, just when she was about to
count him off as
never coming back she receives startling news, the news that
will change her life
forever. This news will keep her searching for answers, even
if it meant going to
unsafe areas to find out the truth.
Imagine that things are not what you thought they were. This
story is
definitely a favorite for me this year. No wonder Vermeer's
novel is an
International-Bestselling Thriller! Do not plan on putting
CRUISE down until
you read the last page.
A woman learns that her husband has been living a secret
life she could never have imagined
Frank and Helen’s anniversary cruise is going perfectly,
until the unthinkable happens and Frank disappears. Helen
does everything she can to find her husband, but is
ultimately forced to return home, alone and distraught.
After spending the next few months searching, Helen hears
from someone who has news of her husband. But not the news
she hoped for: Helen learns that Frank was leading a double
life. It becomes increasingly apparent that the man she
married had a dark side Helen could never have imagined.
Suzanne Vermeer, the bestselling mystery writer in the
Netherlands, spins this story with unparalleled suspense.
