Romance Paranormal

Clare Cermak, accountant, has just inherited her 'crazy' aunt's wealth and estate. Unfortunately, she also seems to have inherited a gift of interacting with ghosts. Apparently, her aunt was a medium, one who helped ghosts cross over, and now, that gift is in Clare's hands. Failure to accept her gift will leave her dead or crazy. As she battles with accepting, ex-deputy sheriff, Zach, runs into her and the two hit it off...until ghost business gets in the way. The two will have to team up and help a particularly famous ghost or face the fallout of a ghost gone pyscho.

As a huge fan of Robin D. Owens, I was so excited to read the first book in her new series, GHOST SEER. It holds everything readers of her work should expect: hot, but grounded romance, paranormal action, and a narration that just won't let you put the book down. Told in third person, it switches focus between Clare and Zach, giving great insight to both of their problems and personalities. With his gruff-ness and her organized and calm persona, I didn't expect them to work as well together as they do, but Owens blew me away with their chemistry. They are definitely a couple that I want to root for, especially when that means sexy kissing scenes from them.

The gift Clare has is very fascinating. Her job is to basically help whatever ghosts comes her way, if she can, to cross over. The particular ghost she tackles most of this book is that of Jack Slade. The history woven in behind his character is interesting and takes a different look at him than what most legends claim. I especially like Clare's guide with her gift- a ghost dog named Enzo that reminds me of the dog from the movie Up, adorable and fun. The world building blending the paranormal elements with realistic life is phenomenal.

Overall, if you enjoy Owens' work, I would definitely recommend trying this new series. If you are new to her, but like paranormal romance or urban fantasy, GHOST SEER would be a great read to try.

SUMMARY

There’s just something about Clare. Apart from the ghosts… When her eccentric aunt passes away, no-nonsense accountant Clare Cermac inherits more than just a small fortune. She receives the gift of communicating with ghosts. While Clare may not believe in spirits, it’s hard to overlook the shadowy talking dog appearing on her bed or spectral cowboys tipping their hats to her in the streets of Denver. And when she locks eyes with sexy—and living—Zach Slade, there’s certainly no ignoring him either. A former deputy sheriff, Zach is leaving a painful past behind in Montana for a new life in Denver as a private investigator, a job that has him crossing paths with beautiful Clare. Not that she minds. After the restless ghost of a Wild West gunman demands her assistance, Clare finds herself needing Zach more and more—and not just for help.
