MUST LOVE OTTERS by Eliza Gordon is the story of Hollie
Porter. She is a dispatcher for 911 and shares an apartment
with her boyfriend of two years, Keith. She isn't happy with
her job, her relationship with Keith or her life. She is
feeling lost, lonely, and depressed when her Dad sends her
tickets to a resort in Canada called Revelation Cove. When
she tells Keith about it, all he is concerned with is
leaving his precious Yorkies behind. Hollie kicks Keith out,
then heads to the local bar for too many drinks. She drunk
dials the resort and gets Ryan, the concierge, on the phone.
Hollie tells Ryan more secrets than she's ever told anyone
else, but in between his giggling, he convinces her to book
her vacation without her stethoscope-wearing, Yorkie-loving
ex-boyfriend. Now this is where the fun begins.
When Hollie arrives at the resort she develops a love/hate
relationship with Ryan, and their banter will have you
laughing out loud. Their fighting and flirting is hysterical
and the trouble Hollie keeps getting herself into is so
funny, but Ryan is always there to rescue her. Of course, he
must tease her about it, too. She also meets Roger who is
sophisticated, sexy, and totally out of her league. But he
isn't what he appears to be either. After pretty much making
a fool of herself with Roger, Ryan comes to her rescue once
again. I instantly fell in love with Ryan and want to book a
vacation to Canada to find him.
MUST LOVE OTTERS should come with a warning label: Will Make
You Laugh Out Loud and Giggle like There Is No Tomorrow.
The situations Hollie gets into are outrageous and you find
yourself reading the whole story with a huge smile on your
face. MUST LOVE OTTERS had me laughing so hard, my sides
hurt. All of my friends were telling me I had to read it,
and I'm so glad I listened to them. I was hooked on this
story from page one and when it ended, I had tears in my
eyes. I truly hope Eliza Gordon will write another book
about Hollie and Ryan. I have to know more about these two!
I am telling you proudly that this book is definitely in
my top five for 2014!
Hollie Porter is the chairwoman of Generation Disillusioned:
at twenty-five years old, she's saddled with a job she
hates, a boyfriend who's all wrong for her, and a vexing
inability to say no. She's already near her breaking point,
so when one caller too many kicks the bucket during Hollie's
911 shift, she cashes in the Sweethearts' Spa & Stay gift
certificate from her dad and heads to Revelation Cove,
British Columbia. One caveat: she's going solo. Any
sweethearts will have to be found on site. Hollie hopes to
find her beloved otters in the wilds of the Great White
North, but instead she's providing comic relief for staff
and guests alike.
Even Concierge Ryan, a former NHL star
with bad knees and broken dreams, can't stop her from
stumbling from one (mis)adventure to another. Just when
Hollie starts to think that a change of venue doesn't mean a
change in circumstances, the island works its charm and she
starts to think she might have found the rejuvenation she so
desperately desires. But then an uninvited guest crashes the
party, forcing her to step out of the discomfort zone where
she dwells and save the day...and maybe even herself in the
process.
